Has anyone any experience of this., A friend of mine has just haad her dog diagnosed

'  It looks as though he has degenerative myelopathy .The vet has sent some blood samples to America to get tested just to make 100% sure but I think there's no doubt in her mind really.  Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done in terms of treatment or cure but she has suggested hydrotherapy and fortunately there is a place about 15 minutes from us that does dog physio, hydrotherapy, underwater treadmill (he will love that, he hates water) which she said will all help.  The only good thing at the moment is that he only has it in one leg but it is only a matter of time before it spreads to the other back leg.   Anyway, we are just trying to be positive which is very difficult as he does struggle most of the time.  He still likes to run but it's only for a couple of minutes and he does 'bunny hops' with his back legs as he has no feeling in the left one.  Quite cute to watch but heartbreaking at the same time.  So, that's it really, fingers crossed that it doesn't spread too quickly.

Has anyone any advice or experience of this?
Thanks

What breed is your friend's dog?  This is very common in GSDs.  My old shep had it.

As I say my only experience is with GSDs.  We lost our shep to it about 13 years ago now but I don't remember her worsening particulraly quickly.  i am sure that there have been advances in that time but as I understand it there is mo cure.  Sorry I can't be of more help.

Used to be known as CDRM, (Chronic Degenerative Radiculomyelopathy), if you google CDRM there are loads of articles (some more useful than others) on there. Lost my 1st GSD to this at 8 1/2.
