Topic Dog Boards / General / Fence Paint Srayer ???

Hi, was wondering if anyone has used one of these fence paint sprayer's with success? I live in a 10 year old house and bought from new so were told when we moved in that we were responsible for erecting the fencing to the right of the house as did everyone else therefore all the gardens becoming enclosed to the rear, the front has to be open plan. The reason i ask about the fence sprayer is that i was out all day yesterday with my daughter in a dance comp and when i returned the neighbour who i no longer speak to has lifted the fence panels out and painted my side in the darkest darkest brown when i have all my fences a cedar red colour. Dont ask me why he took it upon himself to paint my side of the fence in a colour i dont want because in the 10 years he never painted my side of the fence so dont know why but wondered because i have only just painted the whole of the garden panels in cedar red and it took me leisurely days, weeks then rather than painting up and down up and down would a sprayer be quicker or are they too fiddly and it would take me just as long ? And also i'm so mad because i am now thinking to myself that never in a month of sundays would my cedar red colour actually cover over the dark brown ! Is there anything i could do to tone it down before i re paint it ? Maybe the likes of jet wash it or something

Sprayers work quite well although if the fence is waney lap there is the chance some stain will run through gaps. You are being very restrained I would have gone to ask him what he was playing at.

I know i wanted to go out there and shout my head off, but long story, we got planning permission when they objected and dont speak anymore and i don't know if it's one of those things done to get back at me in some sort of form. I dont care if it runs through the gaps - more the merrier and he can see i have painted it back to my colour. I dont know why on earth he done it, and i know it's stupid but i would rather say nothing and let them think it's not annoyed me if that's why they have done it in their tiny minds. Is there anything on the market that i could put on it to tone donw etc the colour before i re paint it my cedar red do you know ?? I am rather picky about drips. Off to B&Q to ask if there is anything i can do

Can't believe they removed your fence panel without asking, what if you had your dogs in the garden and one had escaped.
I would of had to go round and ask why he did this, after all he just gave himself more work to do and it doesn't make any difference to him.
i'd also want to know if he had been in my garden whilst trying to take out the fence etc i think you'd call that  trespassing wouldn't you?
all i can say is your being very patient but i'm not sure in this case i would be although i can understand that you don't want them thinking your bothered.

my thoughts exactly, why on earth take the panel out and make more work for your self and paint my side a different colour. After the long running issues they are probably waiting for a reaction from me. I have just been to my Mums and borrowed her jet wash and poor hubby on his day off is just setting it up now to have a go and see if it jets off. So i can in my own time re paint it the cedar red that the rest of the garden is done in ! He would say that he didnt trespass because he lifted them out, slide them to the top and removed them. Yes my poor dogs could not go out, as the panels were right by my kitchen door which i needless to say i leave open all day for them to come and go as they please and for fresh air. We had to take them for a couple more walks than normal to see if they needed toilet business> Sounds childess but i think they are waiting for a reaction and it will annoy them more that i say nothing jet wash the colour off and re paint them. More work for me and hubby but .......just hope it works !

My OH used a paint sprayer and even on a calm day the 'mist' managed to waft onto our windows and someones car parked on the street

If relations are strained just blast it of with a pressure hose, it takes a few days for paint to truely set, with a bit of luck the water going through the gaps will spoil the finish on their side :-D

What a cheek! I would be so angry. We bought a sprayer for the fencing when we first moved in here and almost instantly ruined any chances of having a good relationship with our new neighbours. Hubby was happily spraying away but our neighbours car at the other side of the fence was covered  :-O  Luckily we all had a giggle about it after hubby washed their car for them. The only safe way to use a spray is to take the panels out, lay them on dust sheets and spray them flat in an open space with nothing else nearby.

I tried to use the Ronseal sprayer. It was a very calm day and I was covered from head to toe in the spray.  It went everywhere, especially if you try and do the top of the fence, I dread to think what I sprayed in the neighbours garden.  I abandoned it and used a paint brush.

Ha, the laugh me and hubby had today taking it in turns with my Mums pressure washer. It has started to come off and there are bits of a more natural wood underneath so i live in hope that it will dry and i can try a coat of my paint on it ! I hope it does spoil his finish on his side and then i hope that when i re paint it in my red cedar that it blobs through aswell !!!

someone said that to me today that it is really only best to use a sprayer when you remove the panels and put sheets down so i might just use the old faithful brush as to be honest i am a bit fussy ! Sad to say but i was so angry yesterday when i came home from being out all day with my daughter i couldnt believe it. Had to have a nice glass of wine to send me to sleep but how sad woke this morning at 5am and the first thing on my damn mind was the fence. Came down and made myselfa coffee opened the doors for the dogs and just stood there and staired at the fence. And on my mind all the way around the dogs good run around the park first thing!

I used a sprayer last week, ended up covered in the stuff, as did the windows, my car, the path.....

This was on a very calm, non breezy day. Yes it covered the panels quickly, but dark brown freckles did not suit me!

think all the people that have given me advice and have used a sprayer have all said the same so looks like it will be the brush ! thanks
