Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Colour Genetics (??)

Are there any good websites which can give an idea of what colour/s a B.Collie litter could potentially be? Or does anyone here know anything about colour genetics?

I have been reading and trying to get my head round this for days now, but still its going over my head.

Dam = black&white  Sire= Red & White
Dams parents = Black & white, Dams GGP were Red & white, and Sires Parents were Red, and also Tri coloured.

I have read about 10 different articles regarding this, and still i can't figure out what they can potentially produce.
All i can understand after reading a whole article is that Black is the dominent gene, but 2 recessive genes such as Red can potentially produce a few red&white pups.  Maybe i'm still totally wrong :-)
Anyone got any knowledge on this or can shed some light? :-) So confusing!

If the dogs are KC/ISDS you can put them on the Anadune pedigree database & do a test mating & the site will also reveal what the probable genetic colour make up is

Yes. ISDS and (now) KC registered.
I have heard of that website, but no-idea how to atually "do" the potential mating on it.  I have surfed around it before but wasn't to sure how to "do" the mating on it? (not very good with this computer lark :-) )

Is it because i have to register with the website first, then can do a 'potential mating' ?
(Sorry if this is a silly question- but computers & technology don't bid well with myself)

Yes you would need to register first  (its free) however it would also depend whether your bitch's and the chosen sire's pedigrees are included in the database.

I know you haven't got Aussies, but this site is pretty good on colouring genetics and should have some relevance :-
