How often should you walk a pregnant bitch ? I walk my dogs every night we go for 4.1 km . My girl is due in twelve days (from first tie ) should she still come . Cheers

I wouldn't take her on a particularly long walk, but she stil needs plenty of exercise. Don't let her run abut madly (not that she probably wants to anyway!) but it's vital that she keeps up her muscle tone if she's to have a straightforward labour. Birthing is hard work and very tiring; the last thing you want is a flabby, unfit bitch. So I'd give her several short walks a day (half a mile to a mile or so each time for a medium-sized breed), with time off lead to go at her own pace.

Thanks I haven't taken her for the long walk in 8 days I realised she was slowing down a bit even though she was still keen to go . I knew I had to keep walking so she was fit for labour . Is there any time I should stop all together

I've only stopped when the litter's actually born, and then only for a few days. They've gone out for short walks on the day of whelping, and again when they've asked when the litter's a few days old. Forthe first few days after whelping the bitches usually have to be forced a few times a day to leave the pups to go into the garden to relieve themselves and then gallop at top speed back to the babies. But once they're confident that the pups are safe then they've always been wanting a change of scenery; and I've never had any health issues whatsoever from allowing the bitch out.
