I have being doing some research on this just in case.

Has anyone's dog suffered from this and lived longer than 12 months? That seems to be the top benchmark for any dog diagnosed with this..

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your dog having it.

Did it come on very quickly or was it slow developing from what you know?
Also have they determined if there are any links to it being hereditary?

Our boy lived for just a couple of weeks after his diagnosis before we had him PTS to save suffering. He was aged 8 years and was so poorly. He had acute Lymphoma and his tests showed he had a very poor prognosis.  There was a possibility of his having chemo but it came with a prospect of a remission of only around 6 months. In the end we wondered who we would be doing it for and faced up to letting him go. Not all dogs with Lymphoma will have such a poor prognosis and sometimes it could be worth giving the chemo a go. It just wasn't right for Sam.

Not as far as I know but would be interested to find out.

We lost Sam 7 years ago (not current breed) and it seemed to come on quite suddenly. The first sign was that he went off his food and was vomiting. But then that could be anything. We went back and forth to the vet for a couple of weeks before I found (not the vet) that the lymph nodes in his neck were swollen. After I pointed that out to our vet he then checked the lymph nodes in his chest and back legs; they were enlarged too. The biopsy showed that he had Lymphoma and graded it as the worst possible prognosis.

Has anyone's dog suffered from this

My girl developed Lymphoma last year. We decided to go with Chemo and she went into remission straight away and stayed there for 8 weeks. Unfortunately she came out of remission and we weren't able to achieve a second remission. She died 6 weeks later. I have friend whose dog is in remission at the moment. I am on a Lymphoma forum and there is dog on there that is 3 years in remission.

My charlie was diagnosed with lymphoma.. was given a very guarded prognosis but i just couldnt let him go. The vet game him 2-4 months at best. Started on chemo and lived a month of 3 years... i knew his time had come..

have not had to deal with this personally but I do belong to the yahoo group caninecancer, there are several dogs there with lymphoma and quite a few of them have been in remission two and three years with various chemo treatments, there is also another yahoo group lymphomadogs that have had some successes, all dogs on that group have done chemo, but  I am not a member there so cannot tell  you much
