I wondered if any one can help me...

I noticed a red lump on my dogs nose (the bridge) about a week ago, I have been bathin with salt water in case there was a foreign body etc, it doesnt seems as raised. its not painfull to touch and she is her normal self.

Its about 1 cm in diameter, I wondered if any one could reccommend putting anything on it...? I am thinking of taking her to the vets but she aboslutly hates the vets and climbs the walls to get out, I really dont want to put her through any stress, so any help you can give would be great.

Many thanks

Hating the vet or not I'd want this professionally assessed were this my dog - 1cm is quite large and it's had a week to go down (longer than I'd have left it)  if only the result of a sting or insect bite.

Better safe than sorry IMO

Hope it's something easily treated. regards, Teri

Is the lump between his toes, similar to this? If so it sounds like an interdigital cyst, and your vet will know the best way to treat it.

Soaking it in warm-to-hot, slightly salted water for several minutes will help in the meantime.

If he hates the vet that much, what about a home visit (costly I know) but it is really important.

don't think you have any other choice than a visit to the vets. it's been a few days now and you say it's still there so it needs looking at.
may well just be a bite of some sort but it's not worth it getting infected, so ask your dog to be brave and get to the vets for peace of mind.
i'd be interested to know what the vet says it is, let us know.

hi there,no its not between the toes its on top of his toe and its hard and round and looks like a would he actually has made it worse keep cleaning it but that will be due to him running to fetch his ball and has probably agrovated it a bit as it starts to bleed but the more he licks it the bigger it swells.ive also bathed it in cool boiled salt water.i shall bath it again in a min b4 i go kiip and then again b4 i go to the vets in the morn i will let you know how we get on and many thanks.donna

hi  im not quite sure if this was meant for humphrey or me when you wanted to know what the vet said what the lump was, anyway took my dog to the vets and he has a ACRAL LICK GRANULOMA wich he told me could have been caused by a thawn of a bug or tick bite and is infected deep into the paw.Now my dog is on two antibiotics a day for 3 wks but have to go back to the vets in two and a half weeks to see how his paw is going.the vet also told me this infection could take anything up to 3 months to heal and get better.donna
