I am begining to loose faith in my vets now, after my little girl missed 3 different season matings, i decided to get a  bhs test done my vet put her on Noroclav AB 5 days before mating and 5 days after, We did a pre mate test on the 7th nothing showed then again on the 10th (today blood taken at 9.30am and results back at 12 midday) i phoned the vets and he was busy in surgery but told me she was not ovulating yet that he would have to look at his book to see how long to leave the test in the machine as he thinks he is not leaving it in long enough, at this stage i was panicking a tad, spoke to the the receptionist who said maybe she is not ovulating, that the vet would phone me back later to discuss things. How long should the test be in the machine? I have even bought those test strips and did one today also says she is not ovulating..  Any advice you could give would be great so that i have a rough idea if he has any idea what he is saying is true..

Confused ?

The pre mate test is not done on a machine,it is a self contained test kit which relies on a simple colour change, the instructions in the kit as very easy to follow.
A quantitative progesterone assay is done via an immulite analyser either at a canine reproduction facility or laboratory. It is impossible to leave the test "in the machine too long" the whole process is automated
