I know that there's Formby does anybody know of any others?

There is also wallasey beach which is renown for dog walkers as its ou the prettiest beach. But to be honest the whole of that coastline has really great walks, beaches mixed in with foresty type walks. You an get an information leaflet from most tourist places with lovely walks on the wirral.

I've always found Hoylake or West Kirby brilliant.  We went to Hoylake a couple of weeks ago and had the whole beach to ourselves. Fabby.

I don't think that there's any restrictions on Ainsdale , Crosby and Southport .  There is also a small beach at St.Annes .

Never walked my dogs there and only visited the once when on holiday but i loved West Kirby and surrounds..
Watching all the windsurfers as well..maybe some eye candy if you're lucky.

How about going up as far as Arnside on the North west coast of Cumbria. There's always  Ainsdale beach, but the sea is ridiculously far away usually.

Thanks everyone, Arnside is to far as I want to go fairly regularly!

Is Talacre (North Wales) too far?

At Ainsdale dogs aren't allowed for a certain distance either side of the entrance to the beach (300yds I think )but you can park by the ranger station and walk over the dunes to the beach. The sea can be a little elusive though!
Formby has year round access you have to pay to park in the summer but there is parking on the roads if you are happy to walk through the woods and over the dunes. Crosby beach is my local but the Iron Men really confuse my FCR:-)
