can you tell me if you use any form of pet odour candles etc ? i only have the 2 cav's and don't think i have a doggie smell in the house (my mother is not really an animal lover and straight faced and would tell me) but i sometimes do get a paranoid thought that maybe there is a dog smell in the house that i have come used to ? I have seen in my vet a pet odour candle being sold but to be honest are about 7-8 pound each and would last so many hours cant rememner if it lasts 30 hours or more than that etc. i have searched the internet etc and have seen them cheaper, but i am a bit of a candle person anyway and have bought some candles from Ikea to try of various fragances etc which last they say about 30 hours at £1.20 i think or there abouts. I was just wondering if anyone used anything or recommended anything???

I have never used or heard of them but if you try them out and they work please let me know! My house can get quite doggy smelling even to me and I have a terrible sense of smell, seems like a nice idea to use in between the carpet shampoos :)

if you put into google pet odor candle they do come up, cheapest i seen them though was about £4, the vets charge about £7 something and the receptionest said thats the price they have to pay and dont get a discount cos the vet sells at the buy price. They do smell lovely when you walk into the vets, but didnt want to shell out the £7 odd pound so thought i would look around. I bought 5 candles from ikea a few weeks ago and they do seem to last the 30 or so hours that they say, the smell is nice, come in all different, strawberry, vanilla, linen fresh, citrus etc, but wondered is anyone did use special pet odour things. My mum would tell me if my house had the doggie smell so not all the time paranoid !!! I dont have carpets downstairs only have carpet from the bottom stair upstairs and all upstairs, so downstairs not too bad with the dogs and i Bissell the carpets upstairs to freshen up!

My breed (tt's) dont have a doggy smell as such but I am still aware that maybe other people can pick up on something I have got used to. I burn oils. its so much more a natural smell than the candles I have bought but would be interested to read other people's experiences too. At the moment am burning satsuma which is a gorgeous citrussy smell and just fills the house with a lovely orangy aroma. its gorgeous.

I use body shop oils in an oil burner. The Oceanus one is gorgeous - really fresh smelling and takes away doggy smells. I too have two Cavaliers and they tend to catch their skirts and under carraige when they piddle and get pretty pongy soon after a bath.

We use yankee candles. They have some nice subtle scents that don't harm the animals. I particularly like soft smells like country linen or clean cotton for example.

I use the Body Shop oils in a burner too. I find they have more effect then candles. The Amber Vanilla one is my favourite.

Hi, could i ask if you can get the oil burner thing in the body shop with the oils aswell. I've never tried burning oil etc only tended to us candles or use the plug in things for fragrance, how much to you have to put in the oil burner, is it one of those open top ones were you just pour it in the top and let it burn ? Like the sound of trying that idea

Carbonante soda and corn flower mixed leave over night in ie rugs and carpets gets rid of any smell
( sorry about spelling)

hi, yes Body shop sell the burners too. I prefer the ones with a deep metal dish which holds the oil instead of glass - they conduct more heat so the oils warm more a smell more :-)
I have this one:
http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk/_en/_gb/catalog/product.aspx?ParentCatCode=C_HomeFragrance&CatCode=C_HomeFragrance_Burners&prdcode=53933mAll you do is put a few drops of oil into the dish - I put 5-6 in but it depends how strong you want the smell. Top the oil up with boiled water and pop a tealight underneath to keep it warm, as the water evaporates just top it up - don't need to add anymore oil, just water. I change mine every day. Oils to try - Oceanus and green tea......both smell divine!

I have that one too. Its really stylish. Obviously you have to take care with kids/animals about with naked flames but the smells are so gorgeous. Have loads of scented candles but have never found them as "natural" as oils.
