No advice i am afraid , but i would think you will need to contact your mortgage provider and a solicitor .

I wanted to do this a few years ago and the lender would not let me as my income didnt fit their criteria to support the mortgage on my own. Nightmare! Eventually I was lucky enough to re-mortgage the ex out by going with another lender .

Yes approach your lender and see what they have to say and then go from there.

From someone who has been through this this year.
It involves contacting the lender at the first point.
Then an application from is sent out, and the person who needs to be removed has to send a covering letter back with the application form that the other person has filled in, that they want to be removed from the mortgage. Stating that they reguire no capital be removed from the house. The application form and covering letter then has to be sent to the solicitors who will pass all relevant stuff onto the mortgage company. The cost can be up to £200 ish. Mortgage company fee. Plus solicitors fee on top.
And the mortgage company might refuse it because it is a joint mortgage and multiple incomes were involved.

thanks lea, hopefully it shouldnt be refused, my partners earnings were enough alone to cover the mortgage and are still adequate to pay for it. do you know roughly how much the solicitors fees are likely to be? thanks :)

I took my mum off my mortgage without any problems :-)  And no fee either, but that will most likely be down to your lender.  I just walked into the branch, spoke to the mortgage guy and got mum taken off that day, after signing a form of course.  That was it.  Took all of my payslips in etc.
