Working on my laptop which runs Vista, I altered the DPI to 192 so that MIL could use my lappy to read and send an e-mail. Now I can't get the display to return to normal - I know how it should work - just go into the change dpi facility and click on the dpi I want and click next - but.... I cannot even see the next button and there is NO WAY I can get at it !! It has disappeared below the screen and the window will not move upwards far enough or shrink down.
I've tried system restore and have the same problem - the window is too big and the lower half cannot be accessed to even reach system restore. Have lost any ability to type into the search bars too :( :(
:( :( :(
MIL has gone home laughing :( :( :(
Anyone have any ideas before I go insane???

Is it just on your email screen or when using the net too?
Try pressing F11 if it's stuck on full screen and then see if you can drag the lower part of the screen into view so you can access the tool menus.

Dill can you access your control panel? I run Vista home premium so may be able to help just playing around with mine :) (or it could mean we both end up in trouble :-p )

Teri, this is the main computer display - everything is awry :( :( haven't bothered with e-mail since she finished.
Won't be doing any more favours of this kind - sick of it being a joke when something goes wrong owing to having to change settings for someone else :( :( It isn't a joke when the lappy will cost to be put right or replace - and I'm not made of money :( :(
Can't believe how upset I feel - was ok until she started laughing :( :(

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Don't even try to replicate what has happened to me - then we'll both be in the doo doo :( :( :(

If you've gone through to change main display settings you'll need to go into the control panel to reinstate the preferred display.
Try Start menu > Control panel > Ease of access > optimize visual display
I've just changed mine and then back again doing that and it worked.
If you can't access any of that, when doing system restore, did you try doing it in 'safe mode' - because with Vista it rarely restores unless using safe mode.

yes I can access control panel and can navigate to alter the dpi - which is what I really need to do - but cannot access the bottom of the window to ok it - window won't go up far enough and can get it to widen or shorten - I'm stumped!
Same with system restore - I can't access the bottom of the window to even get into SR :( :(
This is a problem with every window - they are all too big and won't move up or shrink :( :( :(
Sob!!

Ok, close all the windows, shut down and restart - at the same time as re-starting continually press F8 which will give you a black screen with prompts, one being start up in safe mode. The icons will all be too large but you should still be able to access system restore :)

That hadn't worked for her visual problems so the DPI was changed :( it required a restart

so unless I can restore it, it's permanent :(
Couldn't get into system restore
at all because I can't access the bottom of the window to click next :(:( :(

Have you tried the F8 route on restart? The option for system restore is one of the first on the black screen when rebooting - so no need to scroll down

Not sure I'm brave enough to do that yet - I'm still traumatised and couldn't be dealing with a black screen - too scarey and have lost what little confidence I had :( The lappy was working fine up till the DPI was changed.

You should still be able to TAB through the icons, so if you know roughly where it is you can still select it, you don't need to use the arrow. I second what Teri is saying though too.

Don't be a fearty - the worst that can happen is the problem wont be fixed :)
Honestly, just go for the safe mode route then follow instructions. It's not called 'safe mode' for nowt ;)

Now that made me smile - first time in hours!
Yep right now I'm a real fearty - don't know if I could take trying it only to find the screen is still the same :(

flippin' nora!
I got my lappy working again, but hadn't used it since.
Tonight I decide to use the lappy and CDs is
GINORMOUS!!!!!!!!!!!
I've never seen it this big in my life.
Is everyone seeing this, or am I going mad????

How do I get back to normal CDs???? My eyes are going funny :(
I just want something familiar to look at :(

There may be other settings that can alter the size (I'm no PC wiz :( ), but I know I am forever accidently zooming in on my browser so it all looks larger, I don't know how I do that, but I have figured out how to get it back to normal, LOL - in the bottom right of the internet explorer screen there is a box with a % value & an arrow next to it, if it doesn't say 100% then you've zoomed in, so you just need to click the arrow & select 100%. :)
Or, i think htere is a setting for font size on CD in your options (I think you can change the size there).
