I have waterproof dog beds that can be hosed or pressure washed. I've just bought a new one but with the Tuffies bed that we used before, I just popped it in the bath and cleaned it with a solution of bio wash liquid and then rinsed thoroughly with the shower head every week. This worked really well but it is hard work and not something I want to be doing every week with the new one as its a full oval bed with an extra mattress and not just a mattress like the Tuffies bed. I wondered if there was an anti bacterial detergent available that I could dilute with water into a spray bottle and give the bed a quick spray over and wipe out every few days to keep it hygienic and then just give it a good scrub every month or so? One of my dogs has quite a sensitive skin so it would have to be something hypo-allergenic really - I have seen the Johnson's cleaner in pets at home but I'm a bit worried about the chemicals bothering Harvey? Any recommendation's would be great.
Have you tried the aussie one bath power or kitchen power its based on citric acid in lemons ect I use it for our two and no problems there. Or bleach and water a demestos spray i leave it to dry outside for a while and no problems in two years, though I prefer the bath power one.
Failing that what about the stuff sun bed salons use to clean the beds between uses? I'm guessing that these are hygenic and unlikely to cause skin probs on humans ..... may be worth looking into :)
It's what vets use to wipe down their examination tables. :) It's fantatstic stuff for either cleaning sufaces and can be used direct on animals to clean up sores etc.
Do you know, I have just been thinking about this. Baby wipes are a good idea too but they aren't anti bacterial and I want something thats gonna leave the bed hygienically clean.
