Hi folks,

Can I pick people's brains again for good present ideas for my 6 year old niece - what do your girls around that age like at the moment, please?

Yes a minefield of stuff you can buy them ! :-D

Anything vaguely related to High School Musical or Hannah Montana will go down well !

If she is arty then any arts and crafts stuff will also be a good hit with them. Indigo loves anything she can make with glue, glitter and paint !

Great idea to buy her something you could do/make together.  I've seen kits where you can make/decorate a jewellery/trinket box, they have quite a bit of stuff in this genre in Hobbycraft & the Range if you have one of those near you.  The Range also does a lot of branded stuff like HSM, Peppa Pig, Dora etc etc all at very reasonable prices.

Loads of snazzy looking Hannah Montana stuff on Amazon ... but all seems to have dreadful reviews, seems lucky if they're good for one use before they break?

Hmmm, still looking. Has anyone had a butterfly garden for their children, where they can watch the process through from caterpillar to butterfly?

Thanks folks, sorry to be picky.

Depends on what you get for her. If you want something that is really annoying for the parents then buy somethings like this http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.201-0226.aspx Guarannteed to annoy (we made the mistake of buying Dingo one ! :-D )

I also got Mamma Mia for her to watch as she loves singing and she watches it over and over again and knows most of the words and moves to all the songs now !

At that age they are really into real girly type things that involve dressing up and performing !

Hmmm, not being a parent myself (so no chance of revenge), noisy irritating toys are always a bonus ... will have a look at that one, thanks Lucy!

What about Clare's Accessories - lots of sparkly bangles , beads , bobbles , clips and hairbands . Also make-up , purses , bags and lots  of HSM and HM stuff .
Also the ' Doodle ' books are good from Borders , WH Smith etc.

I used to buy paints and craft stuff then deliver it with the boys when my Mum was baby sitting, she would then buy loud music stuff at christmas in return!!!! Ah happy days!!!

My daughters 6 now and if she goes to parties I tend to either buy a pretty gift bag and fill it with X amount from claires accesories or things like hannah montana/hsm colouring sets/pencil cases

Have you thought about dressing-up costumes? Little girls love to dress up and Asda have some great (and cheap!) Disney ones, from Cinderella to High School Musical for only about £12, or there's always Asda's own ones for under £10.

Yes, there are some fantastic dressing up costumes about aren't there, but did that for Christmas so don't really want to repeat it (yet, at least).

Ooh I'm picky, aren't I?
