Does anyone have any ideas of how to get rid of garden moles?

They're driving me potty!!!  Since we took up a veggie patch and turfed it a few weeks ago mole hills are popping up everywhere.  About 10 years ago we had the same problem and it drove the dogs mad to the point where they dug up the whole garden which i admit did get rid of the moles but meant the garden was like a muddy building site :-D

Hi , don't know how reliable this is but have heard from a customer at work that she put moth balls down. This then drove them away. :)

Some makeshift windmills(child size). Apparently the vibration goes through the ground and sends them packing.
I have seen it work.

Ohh thank you i love the sound of both ideas but am just about to try the windmills as we have some to hand ;-)

Advice from other people has been far to brutal for my liking but these ideas are great, thank you :-D

A friend uses sonic mole deterrents - not sure if it frightens them away or finishes them off though so you would need to check that out if you don't wish to kill them.

body traps work best....takes a bit of fieldcraft to learn howto set them but once you know how....well we caught 5 this week!!!

I've been googling and just found a humane mole trap!  I didn't know such things existed :-)

I know i'm a big wuss wanting to keep the little critters alive but its just the thought of causing them any suffering, LOL

Garlic.....Find the mole tunnel under the mole hill and put a clove of crushed garlic down, then cover the tunnel over, moles don`t like the smell and feel threatened so move on...Only problem is my mole moved into next doors garden right in the middle of their bowling green type lawn!

There are some bulbs you can plant around the perimeter of your garden that do the same sort  of thing and some interesting advice here http://www.angliangardener.co.uk/green_up_your_fingers/unwanted_visitors_how_to_deter_moles.htm

Thanks ;-)  All advice is being noted and soon fingers crossed we shall be mole free and still have some lawn left :-D

LOL at the mole moving next door, our nieghbours have a perfect lawn as well, so if they do move next door i'll blame you :-D :-D
