Did post a couple of days ago about problem with task manager. Just got back from SKC and all hell has broke out on pc. It has trojans. I started to download mccafee but it told me to remove AVG as not compatible. AVG had expired anyway so did that and restarted pc. Now I cant get on at all. As it loads I get a voice in foreign language then windows security centre comes on, identifies all sorts o probs and wants me to pay to 'upgrade licence and ix all. Any advice where I go rom here. Am using laptop at the mo bu it does not have all my stuf on, emails etc.
Sue
I am probably no help whatsover - a complete technical idiot!!, but i cant understand why you cannot access e mails from your laptop. Thought e mails were accessible from any laptop/PC as long as you have your username and password??
Can understand your frustration if you cannot get up important work documents though, ggrrr

Hi there
I wish i could help you more, my neighbours had a similar problem to yours a couple of weeks ago but they could still get online.
I know they used Trend Micro Housecall free scan
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/uk/ and then once that had done its job (it took a good few hours) they reinstalled they're usual virus softwafe and it's been ok since.
Good luck, hope it's sorted asap for you and that someone can help more

Thanks Paula. Trouble is I cant even get into the system now to install anything.:-(
I know absolutely nothing about computers but i know that Hubby sometimes ' de-fragments ' the disc ( i think that cleans up the computer ), and once he had to put it back to factory status - but then you lose everything .
Hope you get it sorted soon .

We had a problem like yours back along and we had to take it to an expert to sort out.
He said it was a scam in our case.
But may not be in yours.

oh o.n ow got prob o laptop.it keeps typig letter.n ow what don i do

Hi Star, just asked my OH who says that if they are asking for money, then it sounds like a virus :-( Either a format which will lose personal data and reset pc to factory settings or get a technician out......good luck
I had the same problems, i took mine to a little internet cafe where the man backed up all of my data, reset my laptop and then reloaded everything, that cost me about £70. Maybe if you looked out for something like that it would cost alot less than say PC world or similar. Def get it looked at though

http://www.malwarebytes.org/This is what I used for such an incident on my pc, still keep it uptodate and do a mthly scan - malware is usually what locks you out ya system and travels via messenger services, badsites and emails you don't know you've got them until they've got control of your system.
Defrags only move files to fill gaps in the drive where you've deleted information just makes your system run faster, if you have a worm or trojan reformatting the system will not necessarily clean it up unless you accept losing everything the worms get into the bootregistry and alsorts.

Another thought these trojans./worms sometimes offer you a solution for a fee ie download x software to clean it up otherwise you stay locked out! This is their way of getting control of your system and of course your bank details too as they're giving you the clean up software via their own websites.
You can go to start - run - type in msconfig - go to bootini and set it to reboot in safe mode. This will allow you to delete everything out of your temp internet folder which should help then you got back into run - msnconfig and bootini to restore the reboot to normal mode then run the malwarebytes scan which should (if malware is your problem) clean up the remaining code.

What a nightmare. Am now using an old pc of my daughters but all my programmes are not on it.Grrrr.
The laptop prob is really wierd. I can access the net but the minute I type anything at all, sites, password etc the laptop keeps repeatedly typing letter nnnnnnn so I cant get any where on sites.
I am just a bit confused really. Supposing trojan came onto main pc, possibly via email (outlook express). How would a similar prob have a couple of hours later materialised on laptop when I was not using outlook. I am getting paranoid now although I am installing anti virus at the moment on this pc.
The prob with original pc is different but you may be right about it asking for money from windows security centre. Some IT guy my OH works with may take a look but not till he is back at work next week. Hope this pc holds out, surely it wont happen 3 times in 24 hours. I could scream.....

No the laptop sounds like its got a problem with the keyboard sticking or repeat rate on certain letters - you will need a techie to check that out for you unless you've opened emails on there with the same trojan in but then I'd expect you to have the same issues as the PC.

Thats what I thought but it seemed such a coincidence that it happened almost straight after. because of worry on PC i was downloading avast onto the laptop and then it just went. Key seems free so very strange. I agree with you though that it seems a different prob all together. Felt like friday 13th yesterday.

Seems to happen like that don't it like entering the Twilight Zone probably nothing to do with the key itself but the workings underneath it that are sticking or have worn away.
