I had an awful dream last night... I'd taken Mr. Pupster to his first show (oddly in my best friend's parent's garden... on Christmas day....)  Anyway, my crate wouldn't fit in the bench space, and I didn't have any benching chains.  AND because of this we were laughed out of the ring :-o

So, getting ahead of myself as his first show won't be for another 4 months, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared!  What size crate will fit in the benchy bits at benched shows?  Not sure if different breeds get different size benches (I would hope so, but never really noticed), but he's a Lab in case that makes a difference.

Hope someone can put my mind at rest :-D

A 30"  crate fits perfectly in the Lab benches.. an inch to spare either side and no overhang at the front..

If the benches are like the ones that were at the National last week, you won't be able to fit one in!

Umm think they were wooden!  Let's put it this way a Spanish could fit in but not much room to move about, was bout the width of my behind and before anyone comments it aint that big :)

:-(  a 30" crate is the smallest we can go for a Lab.. Only once have I struggled to slide the crate into place, and this was on the Old metal benching..

Surely they should be kept to a uniform width, since all the benching gates are measured at around 30inches for a good fit..

thanks for that... think mine's 30'', although no idea where I've put my tape measure to check it.... I suppose I've got 4 months to find it though :-D  Still having scary dreams about first show though..... eeeek!

At SKC on Friday, more than enough room on bench for the 30".. good sized benching :-)

good good, I'll stop worrying and dreaming about crate size now, just everything else!!... and I see you did rather well at SKC with Hannah (well I think it was Hannah... could be Nora... I'm easily confused!)  congratulations :-D :-D :-D
