I am getting a new leather settee and chairs
I want my dogs to enjoy sharing them with us but need some ideas what is best to use as a throw to put over before the dogs get on
I need somthing that does not slip off
What do you use ?

I wouldn't get anything with a loose weave if I were you.I,ve got a close weave on my throws ind they are cream coloured so hairs from my yellow lab dont show.I've sewn 2 together using a flat seam, for the settee so there is plenty to go over the back and all of the seats and arms. They weree only cheap too from my local Home and Bargain.

I like Over The Top (although can't always afford them!).  They do these throws that might be worth a look.  They also do a lot of solutions for cars so might be able to advise re best covers for leather.

I use cheap bedspreads from places like Wilkinsons.

Nothing :-) For me the whole point of leather furniture for the dogs is that it's so easy to wipe down, in fact I have to confess to washing it with the mop when I do the floors :-D

I had throws which I used to put on my leather furniture but they kept slipping off and ending up on the floor lol, sometimes with a dog still attached  .
I got sick of having to keep putting them back so I gave up and now inbetween proper leather cleans I just use non fragrenced baby wipes to keep on top of the odd  mark the dogs may make.

Yup, defo forget about having a throw...I got a gorgeous huge black husky (a furry one, not made from actual huskys...I hope =p) one from Next and within 2 days it was covered in hair, smelt of pure dog and was constantly bein scratched at or pulled of settee and used as a tug of war rope.

It now takes pride of place in a black bag under the stairs.

I agree that leather is great for dogs - easy clean and quite tough  just don't let them scratch.  If you really want a cover there's some non-slip material you can get - can't give the proper details but..  it's a sort of rubber mesh, it comes in different colours and often comes on rolls so you can get just the amount you need.  You can get it from material, car and camping/caravanning shops.    You'll need a cover on top but it should help with the slipping.

I have a throw on one settee and the dogs seem to prefer fabric to leather.   I got mine from a charity shop, it is huge.    Each sofa seats 3 and I could lie full out if I wanted too.   I push the sofa right up against the wall and make sure there's enough throw down the back to stop it slipping.

Mines not leather but I use a kingsized duvet cover on mine which is similiar to the call of the settees.

I agree with tigger2 - apart from washing it with a mop although I do hoover it rather than using proper leather cleaner.  I don't see the point in having something and then covering it up.  I have a good quality leather suite which is now nearly 9 years old and it doesn't look any different than when I first got it.  It has had lots of dogs playing on it etc and still looks great.

I bought it because I liked the colour rather than anything to do with the leather so unfortunatley cannot identify what it is that makes it so longlasting or even be able to tell what grade etc it is.

Im a stickler for colour schemes Im afraid....its black and my bedroom is pink and brown....I did keep it with the intention of using it on cold nights in winter but I would just end up putting the heating on full blast instead !
