WE HAVE JUST BROUGHT TWO MALE LHASA APSO PUPPIES. CAN YOU TELL ME HOW LONG THEY WILL LIVE AS WE HAVE HEARD THAT PEDIGREE DOGS USUALLY DO NOT MAKE IT TO THE AGE OF TEN.

Don't know who told you that, but they obviously don't know much about dogs ! Many pedigree dogs live long, healthy lives, and usually toy breeds such as the Lhasa Apso live a few years longer than the larger breeds. I would say that a normal healthy Lhaso could live to about 14 or 15.

I've had 2 GSD's to 15 and a Elkhound to 14 1/2. Others have had them to 16 & 17 and these are medium to large dogs. And I've know pedigree and mongrels dies at 5 or younger. Like people some make old bones some don't, provided you bought your pups with care from a good and careing breeder there is no reason why you should lose them before they reach a respectable old age. But please remember they are not cars and it is all in the lap of the gods. Ja:)kie

Stinky fat dog is 12 and can outrun and outlast the other 2 dogs, who are both two. She shows no signs of slowing down yet.

Rough Collies to 16 and (with a heart murmur) 13 years old for me.

This might be true of the Giant breeds - and many of them manage significantly less than 10 years - but not for most breeds and certainly not for Toys.

Now, what I want to know is how much longer I have to put up with my now 12 year old and very pesky cat biting my toes at 4AM each morning?!?! (only joking .......)

My mums got a 11 yr. old, a 12 yr.old and a 14 yr old Pom. I have a 10 nearly 11 yr. old Spanish Water Dog and one who's nearly 9, and I hope that they've got a good few years in them yet.
