..for my grandson, Jared, age 11. Its already established that he does have a flu of the Type A, and is being tested for the H1N1 (swine flu) strain. There is already a child at school in Darien, CT (which is where they live) who has got it, so fingers crossed..........
Margot

Fingers crossed that he'll fight it off well and have good immunity for the predicted next wave.

Fingers crossed here as well xx

Fingers crossed here too. It's not making much news now is it but I get the impression it's gathering momentum. I hope he recovers soon whichever strain it is.
I have a new granddaughter so dreading the thought of one of us catching it, also daughter's BIL recovering from pneumonia so feel on heightened alert.
Positive thoughts from me too Margot !!
((Hugs)),
Gabrielle xx

Haven't seen them since February, Ceejay - only contact is phone/webcam - so I think we're immune over here at the moment :)
Once they know whether it is H1N1 strain, then the whole family will be staying home ....Chris normally commutes to NY, but today decided to work from home, just in case.

Margot how is he? Hope everything is OK?

Fingers crossed but from all accounts it doesn't really seem to be affecting people here to seriously It's already been stated that the vaccine for it is only a few weeks away!

Well, it seems as if it is the H1N1 strain ....he's had the last lot of Tamiflu that was available in Darien!!! He's off school, not to return until a week next Tuesday (think that the Monday is Memorial Day, if my memory serves me right) - but he is ......booored!!! Can't have anyone round, can't go out on his bike/skateboard ....and is finding computer/dvds/ip just sooo boring :d
Mind you I think his mum (my daughter) has a really serious problem to contend with ......her OH has gone down with a severe case of Man flu (not H1N1!!!).........

margot thats great news, you sound very up so i guess he's doing well. if you want to be kindly do you have a Head anywhere near you? stupidly cheap dvd's for the bored one.

Astarte - he is in the USA! I think it is just being 11 and not able to be able to get out and "do" anything that makes him feel bored - he can't even wind up his sister as she is at school :)

Great news that he is ok. You might think this stupid but I can see her reasoning. My daughter is hoping that her two kids get this thing now rather than when or if the virus mutates and becomes more virilent. On the whole, people seem to be recovering well from this strain. Hopefully too they will have come up with the correct anti viral before it gets to be a bigger problem.

oh sorry! hadn't realised he was over there. oops!
if he's well enough to be bored though thats a good sign :) really poorly folk don't get bored :)

Man flu! Now that is serious ;-) Glad he is feeling well enough to be bored.
Glad that he's feeling 'bored' Margot - he can't be feeling too ill! :) :)
It would appear that those with bird 'flu have receovered very quickly and without the symptoms being too severe. I suspect that your daughter may have more trouble with her husband and 'ordinary man 'flu '!! :)
