Hi all,
I am new to this posting bit, but a few months ago, I read a recipe that some of you had for liver training treats (possibly with garlic) and I was wondering if someone would be able to post it again.

Here is a recipe for Liver Cake which my friend makes. She cut's it up into small pieces and it keeps for ages in the fridge and can be frozen.

1/2 lb Liver any type with juices
1/2 lb Self Raising Flour
2 Eggs Medium
1 Clove Garlic
2 Tablespoons Oil or Dripping

Blend Liver and Garlic in blender/processor until chopped pretty finely.
Add flour in 3 roughly equal parts, after 1st part, blend, add 1 egg and blend again then add 2nd part of flour, blend, add 2nd egg and blend again then add rest of flour, blend, add oil and give final blend.

Put in a greased/oiled dish suitable for microwave, cook on Medium for 10 to 15mins or until firm. It's a good idea to just cook it for 10 mins first just incase your microwave is pretty powerful, otherwise it may come out looking like concrete. ;-)

Cut into chunks while warm.

I can vouch for this reciipe as i have never yet met a dog who doesn't go crazy for it - but I could sadly never make it, myself, as I can think of nothing more revolting than having to blend raw liver.......bluuuuurgh!!!

It's fine once it is cooked :)

Thanks Clare and Lyndsey....I don't think that this was the recipe that I was originally looking for, but, on your recommendation, will try it this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Well, as I don't normally mind liver and you all thoroughly recommended this for getting a dog's attention, thought I'd give it a go yesterday. Have to say, think blending raw liver is the most disgusting thing I've ever done - both the look of it and the gloopy noises - and the smell from the microwave seemed even worse than the usual when I boil and then bake liver.

Anyway, thought it would all be worth it if my 2 year old bitch liked it, as she likes socialising at shows, but is not keen on the actual showing lark. Gave her a bit and she spat it out. Puppy liked it, but then I think she'd eat rocks if I told her they were a treat.

Won't be bothering with that palaver again!! (Had always meant to try it though, so thanks for the recipe!!)
