Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / Constantly sniffing around the house

Hi All

My westie is now 8 months old and over the past few weeks he has times where he constantly sniffs around the floors, we have got laminate flooring in all the rooms and he just goes around sniffing like mad especially when anybody comes in from outside, he sniffs around the table legs and chair legs aswell, my old dog never did this before.
I just wondered whether most dogs do this or whether its unusual, we mop the floors regularly with flash but i know that dogs noses are more sensitive than ours and that he possibly smells things we bring in on our shoes but just wondered why he was doing it.

wouldnt use flash it has been known to cause skin problems in dogs .

Have you been to someones house that has other pets?  other than that I wouldnt worry.

My oldest Beardie will go and sniff where visitors have walked sat especially if he's not been in the room with them. I never thought anything about it other than what a clever boy he is ;-)

My younger rescue loves peoples shoes and they both recognise any mail that has come from a doggy household

What would you use instead of flash?

I use Dettol on my floors.  BeBe is constantly sniffing and "floor surfing", looking for crumbs.  It drives me mad sometimes!
