I would like to start showing my 2 year old Jess but have no idea if she is suitable, I have been to a few shows and the Beardies all look gorgeous I cant tell good from bad! I was just wondering if any Beardie owners in Somerset would be kind enough to let me visit and see their dogs and take a look at her for me, before I start a ringcraft class?

If you had have asked earlier you could have entered Bath but its now closed. I think the next one in your area is Paignton. there are a lot of open shows in your area ..

Dependant on which ringcraft you attend you should get some useful feedback from them about your girl.

It doesn't cost much to enter Open shows and as someone else has said we have quite few in our area.  These shows give you access to a good number of breeders and exhibitors.  You may find you make good contacts for the future and it's a great way to get your 'eye' in.  Look at the way your breed is handled, who is doing well, what types do you like.  The catalogue should also give you some names and telephone numbers.

West Country Dog Club (they also run ringcraft classes, see their website) have an Open Show in Clevedon, North Somerset on Monday 4th May.  It's too late to enter your dog but they have 2 classes for Bearded Collies.  Might be worth a look if it's not too far for you.

Theres also a show at Hand Equestian Centre, North Somerset this coming Sat(2nd) with 6 beardie classes .

thanks for that sal and dogs a babe, its only an hour away and one of them has a fun show as well so I can enter her in that and see if she trips me up (or worse)!
