Topic Dog Boards / Health / Severed tendon

Hi, today whilst out walking my youngest bitch stood on something, im guessing glass. There was so so so much blood it was ever so terrifying, when we got to the vet, we realised she had not just cut her paw but severed the tendon. This is the tendon that is one of the digits of the paw. It was thankfully repaired but the vet is unsure if her gait will be affected. I show this girl so my question is has anyone had an injury like this and has it affected the dog in the ring with regards movement etc...

One of our girls many many years ago severd an atery and tendon on flint.  After a while she was back in the ring with her fantastic movement, the only thing was she had one flat foot (Luckily most judges who spotted it relised she had 3 other nice feet and assumed it was caused by an accident.)

this happened to a bitch our my breed. She eventually became a Show Champion, so yes there is hope.

Thanks for that, Ive been so worried about her. It was quite scary at the time. She was actually around 8 days in season when this happened on sunday and since then, she seems to have slowly stopped bleeding and her lady bits have gone back to normal size almost. Has anyone experienced this at all? It doesn't bother me as she's not being bred from for another year but Ive never known a bitch to be almost knocked out of season? Do you think its the shock or the surgery or both?
