My little girl's pups are due in a few weeks.  I've been having a dilemma as to buying a lamp or a heated pad.
Can i have some recommendations please - I was heading towards a lamp, because of the wires for the pad getting in the way, or even chewed!  with that in mind, what type of lamp would you use, I've seen so many????  HELP PLEASE!

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I always use a heat pad rather than a lamp,it provides a nice gentle warmth without getting too hot. It also has a neat safety feature in that if the pad becomes uncovered it goes cold so puppies cant get overheated.I used a heat lamp many yrs ago but found it difficult to gauge the heat from it.I've not looked at the latest models of lamps so cant advise you on them. Others here will probably advise you on them. As to the puppies chewing the wires I must say by the time my babies are old enough to chew they are also old enough to do without the heat pad. My babies are born in my lounge and as its pretty warm I dont need to supplement the heat in the whelping box after about 3 weeks, babies are more active and able to regulate their body temperatures by then and dont need the xtra heat.
