Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / Wee in house while in season?

Hiya!
As you know Tessa has come into season for the first time a couple of days ago. This morning, we were sitting in the lounge chatting and she was lying on the floor, enjoying the company when she started weeing under her. She got up and it was leaking from her, she didn't squat she just walked around while weeing. Shall I get worried?
She was wearing some of those panty things to protect my mum's rugs but they're not tight.
She had gone for a wee when I got up.
I'm just concerned because it's like she never realised it was happening...
Maybe I should mention that we had some guests with their little yorkie dog, which by the way was absolutely terrified of my dogs and they didn't pay too much attention to him anyway. He was sitting on the floor by his owners too when it happened. I'm puzzled.

Bitches do tend to need to wee more often when in season, but I would get her checked out for an infection as soon as you can. It's far better to be safe :-)

It is quite common for bitches to suffer some degree of incontinence approaching and when in season.  I would be inclined not to use pants or pads if at all possible as I think they are a minefield of bacteria particularly if she is also leaking urine.  Urine is sterile when it is first produced but that soon changes!

agree with all above would have her checked for a water infecton asap get a sample and take it to the vets,  I give all my girls cranberry tablets everyday, good for the bladder .
Let her drink plenty and get those pants off her I agree with Isabel on that one! most bitches keep themselves clean one of my girls has just had her season and you would not have known only for the odd spot on the floor as she and and my other girls constantly clean which they cant do in pants..

I would definitely get her checked out, just to be on the safe side. Ditto, the pants off thing. I can never understand people putting knickers on bitches in season. How can they clean themselves which is a behaviour that all dogs need to do. My girl has quite a heavy season at the moment but very little escapes on to the floor. I do though always have a towel ready for when she jumps on to my knee. I would suggest your mum rolls the rugs up, just for the few days when your girl loses the most. Better than the knicker thing.

both my girls wee loads more when brewing for their season but they also revert back to actually weeing in the house and normally very close to dog flap which makes it more irritating!
They stay in the kitchen when in season so no mess anywhere else.
