I have just got back from my son's rugby tour and not only did the boys win the whole tournament but my son was also awarded the top tackler and player of the tournament trophies.
He's a year younger and a lot smaller than most of the other boys so I'm really proud of him. :-)

Very well done Hugos There's Son, you are right to be so proud. :) :) :) What position does he play?  My son plays forward for his team, but they can never find enough forwards. :(

ETA  I have just noticed  Happy Birthday, hope you have a wonderful day :) :) :)

A big well done to your lad!! (and a happy birthday to you)
my lad plays rugby too, he plays flanker , it makes you so proud when they do well, even if you do watch the match through your fingers with your hands over your eyes.

He playes scrum half. It suits him perfectly he always has a lot to say and he's good at keeping the backs in order. :-) Being small and fast he's never going to be a forward and to be honest I'm quite pleased he's not in the scrum.

One of the things I love about rugby is that there's a position for everyone what ever there build. His coach always says it not important how big your body is just how big your heart is.

I have the pleasure of washing five lots of clothes and the team kit form the tour today so not the most relaxing of birthdays.

Ouch...We`ve been quite lucky this season, just a broken ankle, a broken nose,  and a couple of black eyes (usually my lad with the black eyes) The  lads don`t care though...they are even quite proud of their "match" injuries lol

Mine too, you still want to wrap them in cotton wool no matter what age they are, or how big! Personally I dread the scrum, and I think I will hate it even more when he goes to Uni the end of next year and plays with the big boys; I am trying to get him to take up rowing. ;)
It used to be so much easier when they were little and used to play touch Rugby, even though he used to find it frustrating at times at least I knew he would not come home injured.

I used to hate the days at work when the Sevens  were being played on camp as we knew we would be inundated with people injured from that, although they were mostly minor injuries.

Mine took up mountain biking so far, broken wrist, arm, collar bone and too many stitches to count!!
But, tall slim, fit, suntanned and with a v.low BMi count, and loads of mates!!

Viv ;) I definitely will not be recommending mountain biking to him then.

ETA He does Diving (Scuba) as do all the men in the house,  if I am there when they are doing a dive I always worry until they resurface, especially if they are deep diving or wreck, even though they are experienced OH Instructs boys have been diving for several years (Sport Divers)

I just cannot help it :)

I know I get the odd phone call "can you pick me up from A&E" and my heart goes in my mouth! He's a 6'5" hunk and my baby!

Anyway, they will always be my babies and thats the fate of parents! I loved being a Mum and still do but its very different standing back and watching what they do, itching to tell them what to do.
