Right our washing machine is on its last legs, can't even get it working now, think i've done it in with all the dog bedding this winter and also my clothes.

I am looking for a washing machine which has a large drum, would love one which could take a duvet inside to wash. Economical would be great - A or A+ only. Not too expensive, unless of course i got something free with it which was worth all the extra money spent.
Colour is not an issue. Not wanting to cheapest but one that cleans well and has all the functions of your everyday washing machine.
Think thats it right now.
Soo many out there to choose from, currently have a Whirlpool and its been good until now, so a brand or one that is known to last a long time.

I have the BOSCH 8KG recommended to me by my washing machine repair guy,he told me any BOSCH model(even the cheapest) will last the longest. So far I'm very happy with it and it manages king size duvets and huge lined curtains!  It actualy fitted in the space the old one left and was slightly smaller so fits even better.

> manages king size duvet

Wow now that sounds ideal. What model do you have if you know?
Right onto appliance online shops to see what prices i will be looking at.

No recomendations as such but just a tip to check the drainage on the machine. We had to by a new machine a couple years ago and it can not cope with dog bedding of any sort and just cloggs the machine up (all machines seem to have a plug at the bottom which all the water drains through - but also holds back all the dog hair with no way to clear it). We have since bought a 2nd machine and made sure the plug at the bottom was a lot larger - the people at the shop thought we were crazy when all we were interested in was the drainage of the machine! So far the new machine has had no problems with dog bedding.

Believe it or not i have just washed our king size duvet in my hotpoint 8kg drum washing machine yesterday and hung it on the line and all lovely and clean and fresh smelling

Yeah drainage is a problem with our current one, just emptied it yet again. Though its the catch on the door and it used to just have to be lightly shut to start up, then it went to a few light slams and then large number if slams and now it won't start at all. It may be easy to fix if i knew what i was doing, or a small cost for a repair man, but all the same it doesn't wash duvets of any size as its too small. SO really having a 8kg or larger drum is ideal, and now drainage will be high on the agenda too. ANy more tips and pointers for washing dog bedding, human clothes and duvets?

It's the BOSCH LOGIXX8..

I shopped around(about 6 months ago) and eventualy got it from Dixons for around £400.

Thanks for that, been hunting online and so far found i think the same one, or one of the LOGIXX for £487 which is the cheapest 8kg Bosch i can find..
Think i'm getting somewhere with getting a new one, father has decided that it maybe a good idea after all. Especially now he can't fix it and spend 2hrs trying to. Said the part would cost him 50p, but the way the machine is built he can't get into it without a sledgehammer..

Couldn't recommend the AEG Lavamat for dog beds it wouldn't be able to cope. For the serious dog stuff I have a Whirlpool top loader, industrial size 10years old & its been fantastic I do most stuff on the 30mn program but it has a super wash, & manages all the bulky stuff. Couldn't cope without it, don't know if it's got an economy rating but need it anyway! Macro had them on offer at the time. If I was looking to replace an ordinary one I would look at the new steam cleaners.

Have the BOSCH myself, and as it was more expensive than I had expected to pay, decided that I had better stop ruining it with turtle mats covered in mud and clogging everything up with hairs.  The wash quality is great.

It is so easy too!  I don't put anything in that hasn't been put inside a cover first (except my own stuff.)  I use a 30" x 55" zipped duvet cover - link shown.  It will take even my largest mats!  All the dog duvet covers go in there with the washing powder, all the dog toys etc.  I have never had a hair free washing machine before and I love it.

When you turn the duvet cover inside out to remove the hair balls - do it outside!

I have the LG Steam Direct Drive G1406TDSP6, which is A++ energy rated, cost over £500 but definitely worth it, it's an 8kg load.
