I'm off early tomorrow morning to pick up my new baby, He is a cardigan welsh corgi and absolutely gorgeous. I'm so excited :) I plan on showing him and the 4 months I'm going to have to wait will seem like a lifetime! I'm really nervous as my 2 bassets that I had for showing has gone totally wrong, the first one has nothing right about her, bless, (but I love her to bits!) and a skin problem the second one decided that she hated judges (and people going near her backend) after her first season and no amount of ringcraft will solve the problem :( So I have decided to go for a dog this time. I researched the breed as I have admired them for a while now and looked at the breeders doing well in the ring. I contacted a lady with some good dogs who has puppies at the moment and here we are, going to pick him up after a very long 2 week wait, can't wait to see him again. Have we got any cardigan owners on CD who can give me any advice?

Hi, I am owned by a CWC! Congrats!
Cardis are fantastic little doggies with their big ears and stumpy legs, expect plenty of comments like "is he going to grow into those ears?" etc.
Mine is 15 months and she is just lovely, good natured if a little bossy but I've been told thats quite common with the bitches!
You will be happy to find that Cardis are easy to train because they are very bright and very, very food orientated.
They are also quite opinionated so you will need to be the boss at all times, firm is good for the corgi!
The urge to ankle nip is still strong so be prepared to be tripped up a few times lol.

Hi to Cardi owners. I have owned this breed for 20 years, so please feel free to ask me any questions...!
As a little brag my latest puppy went Bpib  yesterday in Wales.

Well we are all settled in :) I have planned on calling him Caleb, its Hebew for Dog, faithful and bold although the OH is trying to get me to call him Pepe as his KC name is 'Affix' prince Rayner and my OH is a liverpool supporter and pepe Rayner (don't think thats how its spelt!!) is their goal keeper, Typical man ;) I think I will stick to Caleb!! He has discovered that cats are best avoided and basset hounds are very annoying especially when you are snoozing after lunch and and a big wet nose come and pokes you!!
