My son, who's 9, has an appointment with the Dr. this afternoon to remove or freeze off his verrucas.  At the last count he had 11 of the things.

Has anyone had this done?  Is it likely to be painful for him?  Just like to be prepared as he's a typical male and will probably scream the surgery down if it hurts at all!

Any advice welcome,
thanks  C

I've had it done and it's not as bad as I thought (but then again, I was an adult at the time).  It stings a little bit for a vert short time, but that's about it.

It's a very quick treatment, so if you can offering him something for after to take his mind off it might do the trick.

I hope he gets on ok.

Simone :)

Hope the treatment went well.

I had one verucca but it was huge. My mother advised soaking it well, and then pulling it out with tweezers. It took about 3 goes as it was so big, and in between I dosed it with Bazuka and that was the end of that.

It's worse having treatment to your kids than it is to you though isn't it? Hope you were both brave. Poor lad - he didn't even get to miss school for it!

how'd it go?

My OH is about to go in for day surgery to remove a verucca that's 1.5cm across at the top and who knows how deep.  Freezing works on the smaller ones but not the mosaic or huge ones.

I had a verucca when I was a student that was so big it covered my whole heel! Apparently it was some kind of tropical one picked up in halls of residence and I had about 12 sessions of surgery to get it off!!! Anyway more recently I had a smaller one which was removed by freezing, I found it really nippy but only very briefly and at least it did the trick. Hope all went well.

Warts I have had them on my feet- had them freezed, cut out, scarped and plastered- i found it didn't work much they just came back... Funny I decided to do the home one myself scarped them out and plastered them and they went away prob because I came more imune to them as I got older...

My son had a couple freezed and scraped at 12 and he said it hurt but not to bad....

LOL - Pinky, you come out with the best lines :-D

How did it go Clio1 - did your son think it was painful? I had a verruca frozen off my foot when I was little. I thought it hurt like mad, but then again I do have a very low pain threshold. Of course I milked it for all it was worth for the next few days and made sure I was waited on hand and foot.

I had dreadful warts on my hands 35 on one and 45 on the other, very painful  :( when I was in my 20s, also had a really painful verucca too :(   Had them all burnt off twice - it hurt A LOT because there were so many :(   They all came back   Dr was going to cut them out but I wouldn't let him.  I started doing some research and found that Lemon essential oil and TeaTree oil together were recommended, so I put them on sticking plaster lint and kept them covered, renewing 2x daily.  After a week or so they were ALL GONE - even the one that had never budged after burning.  Painless and no scars - and I've never had them since either :)

Have used the Lemon and Tea Tree on my daughter and others, it worked every time :-D

Hope it wasn't t painful for your son and works Clio

I had 11 on one foot once, being diabetic they won't treat them so I had to leave them to go on their own, it took about a year but they did eventually go and never returned. My doctor did say if you let them heal on their own your body builds up immunity to them and they should never return, so far so good.  Two of our children have had them frozen off without any complaints, so it can't be that bad.
