Anyone out there ever used any of the kennels in Bournemouth area? I have my dogs booked in with a kennels I've used before as they seemed to be the best one I had looked at but I'm not terribly happy with them - just a gut feeling originally but someone has told me a rather grizzly story about them so I'm looking for recommendations for somewhere else. The three I am interested in are Barilla, Noark & Happy Holidays. Anyone know anything good or bad about them?

Well, I've had a look at them all & I'm still not sure but have settled with Noarck as I've had a recommendation.

Hi, I have never really used Kennels, I do know of some that friends run but they are not in the Bournemouth area, not much help really I know.
But have you thought of placing them with these people that look after them in their own homes?  You get to visit the peoples homes prior to booking and they are in a household environment, like home from home.

My OH Aunt does this, she has bookings coming out of her ears! as people are starting to prefer to place their dogs in a house then a kennel, she takes them for walks 2- 3 times a day and will basically follow your routine you do with your dogs, and I believe on average the charge is no greater then that of putting dogs in kennels.
Just a thought, I will certainly be using a home from home placement when and if I can ever afford to go away somewhere!

Hi Gemini05, thanks for your reply. Home boarding is a wonderful idea - its what I do for a living! My springer is old, deaf & not good with other dogs & my daxie is extremely nervous of other dogs when they are not in his house, so I would worry about them getting into too much bother if they stayed in someone's home. Apart from that, I don't know anyone who does home boarding round here that I would trust - I get to hear how good & bad they all are & good seems to be hard to find. Someone staying in my home wouldn't work either as there will be someone staying here while I am away (they won't look after the dogs - I asked) so kennels does seem to be the best option at the moment but I'm very nervous about it.

If anyone knows of a home boarder in Bournemouth who could cope with my difficult pair & wouldn't have any other dogs staying at the same time then I could be interested.
