Hi

We have an eight month old Staff puppy and we're considering getting a second but I'm unsure if they will get on. He's never agresive towards other dogs but would he be ok with a small puppy in his own home?

Cheers

James

An 8 month old staff has still a lot of training and growing up to do, and he needs you to concentrate on him to ensure he grows up a nice well adjusted boy. the worst is yeat to come with his teenage kevin stage only just begginning.

I would wait until he is two or three before getting another dog, byt which time you will be able to concentrate on new pups training, without worrying about the older one as much. also with a bigger age gap the older one will be established as higher in hierachy, so less likely to have problems between them when the younger one reaches maturity. As Stafs are often a bit dog dominant, you may be better off getting a bitch next time, and have one or other (or both) neutered!

Hi,
Brainless, you beat me to it!
I have heard so many stories of people thinking that there puppy staff wants a friend, and is not at all aggressive...
Most staffords will not be dog aggressive at all - but males will be dog dominant that could lead to fights - but they will not show this until about 3 years old, until they reach maturity. Also S5taffords are very people orientated dogs, and dont need doggy companionship, they just want their people...
Mature staffords are normally fine with puppies, but you will need to assess your males personality first.
Also please DONT get another male!
Spoken by someone who has 3 year old female, and a 16 week old male - trust me, it is hrd work!!!!
