Can someone on the forum explain why and what are fading pups?

Is it not the same as "failure to thrive" in human babies?  The pups just decline for no real reason?  My brother was a "failure to thrive" baby but pulled through with a lot of care.

No one really knows the reason for fading puppies, we now go down the route of canine herpes vaccines to try eliminate the problem, with our females and our stud dog,

Hi annastasia,
reporting on the fading pups they are Rottweillers.
mating was an accident waiting to happen that is of course irrelavent I think!
she had eleven pups five died.
She was told to call her vet he arrived and gave them injections which seems to have good effect.
The are now 10 days old and I have been told they are putting on weight so things look brighter.

Thanks for the article Kenya, I am so lucky to not have been through this...but I did find the article very interesting with some great pointers to watch out for.

That is a very interesting link Kenya and I think it might be worth adding it under our Fading Puppy Syndrome Thread
