Just got delivered some of this new food which is for dogs that have been on a course of antibiotics. Its got pre and pro biotics already in it.
I asked my vet about it on Monday and she said she had just heard about it and we thought it might be a good idea to see how Safi was on it, and to let her know. (Guinea Pig spring to mind ;o) I don't mind though. We'll give it a go. It does seem to vary a lot in price though. I found 'Medicanimal' to be the cheapest.
if anyone has used it can you let me know how it went please?
I will start Safi on it later today.

Hi Anndee,
I've never heard of this food before, and i've had a look at the ingredients and i honestly can't see what is in the food to make it so expensive of differant from any other high grade foods?! Like I said, i've never heard of it or tried it so i cannot pass judgement maybe someone else on here will have a more informed view? have pasted details below to spare peoples time looking for it

3kgs  £26.63

ive always added some natural yoghurt with pre and pro biotics to food for a while afterwards, though my boy has only been on antib's once, as a puppy for KC.

Hi Suz1985
i would add yoghurt but unfortunately dairy prosducts don't go down well with her.
i usually use Protexin probiotic powder but saw this and thought I'd give it a go. It seems to be agreeing with her which is something!!

Protexin ....our dog was poorly back last year; he was only a youngster - just 7 mths.  He had a real bad case of upset insides (both ends).

He went on the protexin food for a few days and didn't look back!  His digestion is just fine and he loved the stuff.
So we give it to him as treats on a daily basis now.  he gets a few balls in the morning and some more at bedtime.
This keeps his insides just fine.  His normal food is Arden Grange, plus fresh chicken, or lamb or salmon (lives well ....I know!) but he's really well.

Our vet said no problem for him to have the stuff as treats; much better for him than many others around.  It's just mainly yoghurt any way.  Why not do what we're doing?  A little scoop of Pro-Balance balls once or twice a day ..and  continue her usual food.  It does seem to keep things normal - no messy ones! :-)
Something to be said for that alone.

So he's been on it for most of his life.  Got ours from our vets but it can be bought on-line.

Hi Jill. thanks for your response. glad to hear your youngster is doing well on it.
I'm doing pretty much the same with Safi. Mixing just a bit in with her normal food, and it doesn't seem to be causing any problems. Yet!!!
Good idea using it as treats. As your vet. says. Better for him than a lot of other stuff around. I think I might do just the same, as we do a lot of obedience and I need something to treat them with.
Can't say at the moment whether she likes it or not, as she's in season and is just going off her food a bit. I'll gety a better idea in a couple of weeks time when she's back to normal and finished season.
thanks again for your input.

Hi All

What sort of yoghurt would you give a dog if he was on antibiotics, you say a natural yoghurt would that be like the yeo valley yoghurts you get for humans that are the plain natural yoghurt?
