We've just been to the cinema to see this - and the star for me was Victoria's tri-colour cavalier, Dash - what a gorgeous dog. He was just so delightful, her constant and loving companion. She was even seen bathing him on the day of her coronation! Well done to whoever owns him, for bringing up such a well trained dog, and a great example of the breed. :-)

That Cavalier was at Crufts together with several other TV/film stars, like Wellard and Terrence from EastEnders -they were on the Arden Grange stand. :)

I saw a couple of Cavaliers when out walking today - such merry little souls - and it struck me that I really don't think I have ever seen a bad tempered one. That is quite something, really, with a breed so common (and also so attractive to puppy farmers).

There's two round the corner from me that could teach you about bad temper!!! Hells bells, I only have to get within 500m of them and they kick orf! Absolutely manic and the girl walking them just stands there and lets them carry on without any attempt to control them...poor dogs, they get absolutely frantic and I have no idea why...there is two of them, do it's not like they don't like having a dog get close!

When our two youngest bitches walk together they dog this to any dog that walks past.  You can walk them though a show no problem, they come to training with a hal full of dogs, held by other people and us and no problem, when on their own on a walk they are fine but together they set eachother off.  Only way to control them is to stop and sit them while the other dog walks past.  Once other dog is close enough to say hello they will be fine and say hello nicely.

heir barking sounds aggressive however on observing closley it isn't at all.  Can look it to a novice though so do not encourage this behaviour from them!

Does that mean I'm a novice then? ;-)

No, I'm saying what my girls do which is similar.  I've not seen the dogs your refering too however to begin with I though mine very becoming aggressive till I looked closley at body launguage as they lunge and bare teeth while barking their heads off....

Dawn, are you on your scooter when you see them? I just wondered because my two boys are so placid but don't like my husbands quad or my sons moped even when the engines switched off so no noise to frighten them. If either are parked outside when we set off for walkies and we have to pass them, they go banana's!

Ahh, clever of you to remember that! Yes I am...but in my defence they do it to EVERYONE with dogs...where I walk, the main road up to Croxteth Park, there are loads of dogs around...most of them stop and say hello! That's why I can't understand why she hasn't trained them...she's always off into the grass verge, which is quite wide, and just stands there like a dipstick! :-)

Ahhh ok. They're never gonna get out of the habit if she's not prepared to do anything to help are they :-(
