'The Last Great Race' The Iditarod Official Site is in full flow!
I've spent the whole day catching up (Its been the perfect week off work!) Only 2 Siberian teams this year and no Poodles this year from Suter ;)

Well worth a look at some stunning videos of Sleddogs, if you have a few mins spare :)
The race takes in some stunning scenery from coast to tundra to mountains! and also the famous Nome Serum run.

I almost choked when I read Poodles at the Iditarod !!!!   Had visions of them all clipped out in best Show Style!!!   :-D

Was so relieved to see they were in a heavy puppy clip with lots of coat to keep them warum!  :-D

Wasn't there a TV programme on this race a few years back?  I seem to remember being glued to the TV in the wee small hours - Lots of Dogs and lots of Snow - it doesn't get any better for me :-D

Balto is one of my favourite childhood films :-)

'The Greatest Race' its on Discovery Channel every year (made by production team that do 'The Deadliest catch')
   2010 will be the one to watch as John Stewart (only 24yrs!) Of the Cairngorm Sleddog centre has qualified! Youngest Scottish Musher such an acheivement! :)

Been following Aliy Zirkel and Allen Moore via their web blog it is fantastic, I just love Iditarod!!!

A couple from our dog club visited this last year after the husband arranged a surprise trip for his wife's special birthday, including spending a day with a musher's, and attending the presentation dinner. After such a fantastic time last year, they are back again this year and are working as volunteers. They absolutely raved about it, and when I expressed an interest they were all for arranging a "dog-club outing". I wish....

New Years day 2007 my OH treated me to a sledge ride up in Lapland across the Torne' river through the woods. I was surprised to see what the dogs were like I expected malamutes or something but they were wirey huskies with many blue eyes between them, magical just magical.  Cant wait to go up to Kiruna again in 2009/10.
