I have a girl, who has had a successful pregnancy in the past who is hopefully pregnant now. We had her scanned on day 28 and no pups were seen. Since then she has shown an increased appetite and has 'lost her waist' so we had her scanned again today by our vet (it is now day 50) he also said he could see no pups. Gut instinct is telling me she is, as she is changing physically as she did during her last pregnancy.
Has anyone had experiences where scanning has revealed no pups, only to be suprised at the end of the pregnancy?

Yes a boxer bitch, I was told no pups but she went on to have 6 strapping girls. But I have had bitches who looked for all the world to be pregnant only to subside and have nothing at 'full term'.

Hi KiKibrook ....i havnt but there are some on here that have :) ......she can still show all the signs of being in whelp even if shes not !!! but if she is of large breed with big rib cage there could be 1 maybe more hideing :) so if i was you still treat her as if she is just incase !! you will soon know for sure ..or you could have a blood test done :) xx

Same here with a Boxer, she had 8 large dog pups and everyone was amazed!!!!!!

I'll keep the time Ive booked off work just in case. Fingers crossed!

PS She is a large chested breed, am I allowed to say what breed she is?

Oh yes!! My bitch was scanned by 2 vets where I work at 28 days. She didn't put on an ounze of weight, always ate well, no pink teats so really resigned myself to the fact there were no pups. Excercised throughout pregnancy as normal, no extra food at 6 weeks, no puppy movements but on day 66 she had 2 chunky, normal boy pups!! Never trust a scan!!

I do think my girl is, but I'll find out pretty soon if the old gut instinct is more accurate than an u.s scan.

i am going though the same at the moment scann monday week no puppies so off to crufts we went got a 3rd andrew said last night he think she is.

i measure her around her waist at the hip and just under the last rib bone has gain 1 inch from last week.pink boobs.

she is a bitch that is really tuck up when she been clipped off bit like a grey hound,

she was mated on day 14 tie for 1 hour and 5 mins did idexx test up to that day she wasnt really but she and my male dog was telling me some thing different,

i was up set when the scann by the vet said no puppies but happy know i could take her to crufts and not worry about it but know this week totaly different up set incase she is and that i took her to cruft that open to all viruses,
anyone that knows me i am very carefull where my bitches go before mating and after,after losing a litter with kc i just didnt want to take the risk in taking the bitch to crufts know she could be in whelp, the only reason she went was the result of the scann.

which i have never done before with my bitches to be scann this was the first time,

this is the bitches first mating and she only had four season in four years with no phamton after the season, god will only know,
