Found a lump yesterday on the back of my GR's neck, took him straight to the vets (as thought his microchip had moved and maybe got infected) but they were booked up, so the vet nurse scanned him (not his mc) and looked at it for me but could not find a puncture wound or sore, so back at three today to see vet !!! I've not slept a wink and I am so worried, he has always been such a fit and healthly dog....... I am hope I am worrying about nothing.
Sorry just needed to get it off my chest :o(

Oh Wizaid, try not to worry, chances are it will be nothing. Oscar had three lumps removed and two were found to be completely harmless. The third was a fibrosarcoma but they got it all and he didn't need any more treatment and has been absolutely fine since. So even if it is something more tricky it doesn't always mean trouble.
Try not to worry, and think positively.
Sending positive vibes your way x

Try not to worry, I had a GSD who was covered in lumps and bumps but none ever caused her any problems (she died at 14 of old age)

I've cried a river this afternoon, the vet wants to remove it straight away so we are in Friday, she said we will get the results back within 3 to 4 days. She said she able to pick the lump up within his skin, I am just hoping it is just a lump and nothing more.
Poor soul has conjunctivitus to top it off. I am going to be a wreck friday, he is so precious to me :o)

> so we are in Friday,
I am so glad that you are getting it sorted quickly. My girls was huge, and I was worried sick waiting for results, but, like your boy, the vet could lift it. All these years later, I am so glad that I did. And, just in case it happens to you - the vet said that it MIGHT come back - it never did. :-)
Keep strong for your boy. {{{{ HUGS }}}}

I know exactly how you are feeling right now.. fingers crossed results will come back and put a smile on your face..

One of my dogs had a lump on his back. You could pick up his skin and feel this round object underneath. I too thought it might be something to do with the microchip, but it was not. I had the lump removed and the vet sent it out for testing. I turned out to be nothing more than a cyst that formed around a hair.
I know you are worried, but chances are whatever it is will be out and never cause a problem.
my mum in laws ess had lumps removed last year ..like you she was unconsoulable :( ...thay were fatty lumps that goodness ..he is 8 now and again as more come up ....i do hope that your dog is ok xx
Good luck for tomorrow Hope all goes well. Sending you positive vibes and cyber hugs

Thank you so much, think I am going to have a sleepless night but everyone has been so supportive :o) will keep you all posted.

Has your dog been vaccinated recently? If so, it may be a vaccination site reaction. My lurcher had a lump well over a month after the vaccination.

We will all be thinking good thoughts for you today. :-)

my gsd was prone to getting sebacious cysts which can be huge but are not cancerous, hopefully it is only a cyst or lypoma ( I have had one on my knee cap for years !) we all have our fingers crossed

Heartbreaking, we picked him up at 3.30, he is not himself which is to be expected, the wound and shaved area is a lot larger than we expected so quite shocked but better to be safe than sorry and him having to go under again.
The vet could not really make a comment on what the lump was so sent away for testing. Sadly he could not hold himself either so the vets cleaned him up as much as possible. I am trying to stay positive but hard, I would rather put myself through it than him.

Just sending you a cuddle. We love our dogs so much the pains awful when anythings wrong with them .

It's awful when they're not themselves, such a worry. But at least you can reassure yourself you're doing everything possible.
Big hugs heading his way

It's a shame they couldn't give you an answer right away. The shaved area always looks shocking when larger than expected. I really hope that everything comes back clear. Sending support and positive thoughts. Jean

How is he this morning? I hope all goes well. Hugs xx

Hoping he is feeling better this morning now the anaethestic (cant spell !) and vet stay is over
Fingers crossed for good outcome.

Hello, he's back to his normal happy self today, yesterday he was still a little off colour as such and had a upset tum, having to watch him closely as he keeps going to scratch his neck. Its hard not walking him like normal as he is just such an active dog :o) Still can't quite get my head around the amount they have shaved off, poor lad looks like he has a mullett from the 80's (pics in my name) -
I just want to say to everyone who has sent best wishes & support that I am most grateful and thankful to you all. CD dogs has got me through some dark moments this last week. I just need these next few days to go quick so we can get the results and put it all behind us.

I sometimes think the vets get a bit carried away when they have a shaver in their hands LOL. At least it will grow back
Glad he is feeling better.
Just had alook at his pics, they certainly wern't taking any chances of hair getting in the way! He's lovely btw

(I jumping around with joy) My vets have just called with some great news - the lump was a Benign Tumor, said it was made up of dead cells, molecules and hair, vet said he is positive it will never come back and cause any trouble again. He said there was no signs of any form of cancer.
We're back at the vets at 5 as the wound started to swell a little so they want to check it over and he still has a very bad upset tummy. But overall I feel like I have won the lottery.
Thank you to everyone who has given me the strengh to get through this, your support and caring has been outstanding xxx

Wonderful news, the best. As for the wound swelling, I have had this happen sometimes if there are internal stitches, sometimes there can be a reaction. At least you can relax now.

Vet said the wound is fine and we have some paste for his poorly tummy, can only get better now xxx

oh thats great, phew!

Really pleased to hear your news.

Great news! And I know what you mean about the shaving - I always try to remind them I show mine and to say I know some has to be shaved, but to try not to take too much. I forgot once and Henry ended up with a bald front leg!
