Hi Guys

My two newfs go through 1 roast bone each, every day, and as you can imagine at £1.50 is quite expenive and wondered if any one knew of anywhere on line you can order them cheap, even if its a box full?

Unfortunatley my little nephew who comes too stay cant have uncooked bones in the house when he is here and they seem to like these the best.

Can anyone help?

Could you not have a word with your local pet shop. Trade price is just under £6 for a box of 25, so there is a HUGE mark up. Now you know how much they pay per box, perhaps you could negotiate a price.

Get free (or very cheap) ones from  butcher and roast them yourself?

Many of the ones from petshops aren't actually rosted, they're fried which obvisously isn't healthy, especially if they're having them regularly so do check if they are actually roasted.  Personally, I wouldn't give them at all due to the fact that cooked bones are more likely to splinter and perforate the gut.

Have to say that I would never risk giving cooked bones of any sort, commercial or home made. :(

We bought a box wholesale once -never again. One of the dogs got bits stuck in hi and got really ill very nearly lost him. The sterilised bones all my dogs love and they last months -wouldn't they work?

I use the smoked sterilised bones and Jade absolutely loves them. I tend to throw them away as soon as she manages to make an impact on the knuckle, which usually takes ages.

Agree totally and also add that they can and do break teeth. I prefer Kongs with frozen goodies inside to alleviate mental boredom or a good natural butchers bone (even then there are the same risks as mentioned) There are also various products on the market that can exercise jaws with minimal risk. :-)
