- By tessisbest [gb] Date 23.02.09 17:58 UTC
3 years ago my mom was found to have cancer of the uterus, after a full hysterectomy and radiotherapy she had the all clear, today she told me that she has found a lump in her neck which she noticed 2 weeks ago, she has been to the doctors and he his refering her to the hospital for investigations, im so worried but trying to think that its nothing to worry about and everythink will be just fine, can i add she is 65yrs and retired 3 weeks ago. you know the feeling when everythink is working out and then someone wants to come along and knock you down, well thats how i feel ,, thanks for listening,

Sending healing thoughts and comfort to you, your mum and all of the family.

She's on the prayer list - please God this will be a minor problem easily cured.  Positive mental attitude is not always the easiest thing to come by but I firmly believe it helps and that stress can make things worse.  If at all possible try to focus your mum's and your own thoughts on how well she recovered previously and in the knowledge that lots of folks are praying on your behalf for a good outcome :)

You're in the right place for a shoulder or two to lean on - use them!
Blessings, Teri x

thank you all so much for your kind words they are a great comfort to me, she has called the hospital this morning and they have a appointment for her on the 10th march, its going to be a long 2 weeks but speaking to her she seems absolutley fine with that, me and my 2 sisters have talked about her going private as i work in a private hospital and know that she will be seem imediatley but she said no, but if they are going to take their time doing scans etc, she then said she will go private, i will keep you updated and once again thank you all for being here for me,, god bless you.

Hi again Donna

> me and my 2 sisters have talked about her going private as i work in a private hospital and know that she will be seem imediatley but she said no, but if they are going to take their time doing scans etc, she then said she will go private

When my mum was suspected of having breast cancer we were very concerned and arranged for her to be seen at a private hospital (she had multiple health issues and we were a tad paranoid also about the widely reported MRSA risks in NHS hospitals back then).  The appointment and other tests were done immediately along with a biopsy but it actually took longer for the biopsy results privately than it would have done through the NHS.  After several weeks passed and a few other private appointments she was eventually treated, very successfully, by the NHS and under the same consultant she'd seen at the private hospital :)

I write this merely as a slight warning that going down the private treatment route is not always the fastest process, despite what experiences are with many less specialist illnesses.

As said before, sending best wishes for a speedy and full recovery to your mum.

Sadly this isn't the case from my experience in working in ENT.

Fingers crossed that all's fine for your mum.  Thinking of you and your family and hoping that it's good news.

my elder sister went to moms doctor's yesterday and requested for her to have bloods take, "oh that would be a good idea" they said, so she has gone today and then hopefully we will have the results back before her hospital appoinment,
