DD has a new boyfriend.
We asked all the important questions,.

How Old is he.
What job does he have.
Where does he live.

Then she said and "he has two dogs..."

Enough said !!!

I concur on this one.

I would love to meet the right guy and one of the major points that he has to have is a love for dogs, as well as a few other good points.

What about - 1. How much does  he earn ?
                   2. Are his intentions honourable ?
                   3. Does he have any kids ?

I think when mine are old enough for dating , i will be asking for a CRB check and a psychiatrist asessment aswell !!!!

Before my OH and i got together, we were chatting one night in a bar and I said to him, "Do you have any pets?"

As soon as he told me he had 2 dogs, I knew he was the one for me, and I now know he's the one I will be with for the rest of my life!! I was saying to one of my girl friends yesterday, I could never be with someone who didn't like dogs.

when  I agreed to marry my Late hubby, there were only 3 criteria required

he had a surname I would not be embarrased with
I loved him
He had 3 Labradors...

I refused to tell him the order of importance  (kept him on his toes) :-)

when I first met my OH he told me he is allergic to animals

2 years later and he is living with 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 guniea pigs and a snake - symptom free (although it was hell the first few months with his sneezing and wheezing :(  )

> 3. Does he have any kids ?

Did not think of that....

We  are far too young for grand parent baby sitting duties!!!!!!!!!!
AND DD swears  she will never have babies with less than four paws...

Great stories Claire and Kayc...

Claire how long did it take for your OH to get used to the pets? Does he still suffer with them at all? (Just being nosey, sorry for going off topic!)

Its great though when you meet someone who loves dogs as much as you do - one of the best things about getting with my OH is that I inherited 2 wonderful dogs who now love me as much as they love him (although I think the Cavalier might love me more than him now!) Now I just need to work on getting at least 2 more dogs ;-) ;-)

Suejaw, go to Bernese of the Year, that where I met mine!!! :) :)
- By breehant Date 23.02.09 17:08 UTC
Pretty much the same as Kay,

Except I had the children (always wanted three, ended up with three, OH wanted one ;))
Dogs ( I had seven at the time, not current breed)
and of course the L word.

At that time I owned a dog that could be people aggressive, but was absolutley adorable with family, so when things were getting serious I thought I would introduce him to the pack and see what they said. The boy that was prone to agression absolutley adored him and was sat on OH knee giving him kisses all night. I knew then, after they had given the seal of approval  that he was the right one for me.

Your the second person i know who has met their future partner through this breed.

I popped along a couple of years ago and didn't see any single men.
Not sure whether to enter for this year or not..
Though they would be the same faces as at any Bernese show, and none take my fancy there.
Always keeping an eye open in other breeds(working or gundog) i have to like the breed that they are in as well.

Met my boyfriend on the point of I had dogs.  His parents had 15 at the time (with 100's more they looked after in the temples in thailand) and I had a handful.

However the argument ever since is what do we have in the future...I'm a pedigree person, he wants to rescue a mutt (or two!)!!!!!

I think that is the most important quality in a bloke to me :-D  If he can live with 15 with his parents, he won't mind me having 5/6 :-D (plus the odd litter!)

Also makes him the perfect dog sitter for when we go out to shows :-D
- By AliceC Date 23.02.09 18:54 UTC
Yep - mines a good dog sitter for when I go to shows too!!

I think your OH needs to spend time with mine - mine is currently saying 4 is the maximum he will let me have :-(

don't like to boast but - mine loves dogs had one when we met and when the dog died he replaced him with me :-) spent many a happy hour detangling my then shaggy bob cut. Since then we've got quite a few dogs.  He grooms, trains, walks and shows the dogs.  Has a good job is generous so ticks all the boxes.  Biggest bonus point :- finds it very hard to say no to a tiny four legged buddle of fur that wants to stay on when we have a litter.

Only draw back is:- he's already mine.

mine was brought up with cats as his dad was in the raf and they moved round the country a lot.
We moved into a flat and i missed my family dog but couldnt get one until we had a house / garden.( ten long years ).
Now i have three bigbears and OH drives me to all the shows and trims/grooms, carrys the bags and helps pay for all the shows, petol, dog toys leads etc.
He Also does carting displays / draught work and water trainning with them to keep them fit and heathly (so i guess he can stay!!!)
