Does anyone out there have a view on Beta dry food? I am about to get a 10 month old WSS pup that lives on this with wet food/scraps mixed in--my own dog was brought up on it until he came here at 12 weeks and then promptly decided he hated it. I am not about to change either dog's diet unless there is good reason to do so...is there?

My 14 year old has been on it for most of her life, the senior version now, so I certainly have no complaints about it however, it is always more convenient to have all your dogs on the same food if possible so I would certainly try him on your own dogs food and see how it goes.

Hi Isabel, I would do, but this pup is coming to us as a 'lodger' in joint ownership--his breeder will continue to borrow him for champ shows and I will show him at whatever level I can build up to...so I don't feel I can alter his regime without her approval. Good to know though that Beta has its supporters--I had very withering comments from a certain other complete food retailer when I mentioned that my own puppy had been on this. I would not have changed his diet but for the fact that he went on hunger strike and refused to touch it once he came to us.

I feed Beta with tripe :) This was the diet recomended by my dogs breeder, who feeds the same.

At 10 months old your new 'lodger' may not even have this problem BUT we had a poo eating issue with our pup when mine were on different diets.  We were careful with prompt pick ups but the urge remained until both dogs were put onto the same food at 12 months.

No absolute reason to change but something that may be worth watching out for!!
