hi, I am new to this forum and I hope someone can offer some advise
my staffy x labrador has been diagnosed with elbow dysplasia (fractured coronoid process); he is 10 months old and not yet in the advance state of the condition; ie: no arthritis showing on xrays, but a limp when cold.
I was quoted £2,000-£3,000 for an arthroscopic procedure to investigate/correct on both legs.
Is this a fair price? Seems a lot to me, I have already paid around £900 for xrays. Insurance refuses to cover for any of it.
Anybody with similar experience?
thank you all!!!!

Arthroscopy is generally around £1000 for each side done I have found. I'm sure the price varies around the country to a certain extent and will of course, increase according to the treatment done once they have assessed the area using arthroscopy.........................good to hear there is no arthritis at present :-)
the insurance reckons it was pre-existant because once I asked a vet who no longer works at the practice to check his legs; he had limped quite heavily during play with other dogs; it only lasted a few seconds, but since I was at the vet I thought to ask to check his legs were not injured... oh boy was that a mistake!
Animal Friends Insurance saw that on the notes and jumped to the chance of not paying for a very expensive condition!
