Hi,

On the entry form to this show, it states that a proposed order of judging would be published on their website & in the canine press on 13th Feb.  It's not on their website, but would someone be kind enough to check the papers to see if it is in there.

Specifically looking for Airedale Terrier please.

Thanks ever so much.

posted just that touch quicker - had to type mine :)

****Waves**** sorry didn't get to chat on Sunday - and nightmare you missed the handling!!!

good luck to both of you at Maidenhead - gave this one a miss x

Hopefully I will have slept Friday night by not telling 6 year old she's going to a show.  If I get some sleep I might actually function (not promising but between the people going, hopefully someone will make sure that I get in the ring with the Spanish & that dd gets in to her JH class)  Sunday was a day where I should have stayed in bed :-(

Oh & well done to your girl for her win.  Sorry I missed you (certainly wasn't coherent enough to chat ;-))
- By newf3 [gb] Date 17.02.09 17:36 UTC
im going to this and the order and enterys were in last weeks dog world.
- By jennyb59 [gb] Date 17.02.09 18:58 UTC
Yes I'll make sure you get in the ring and Emily too.....even tho Ziggy will have a red show lead on...hee hee.....
Dont forget your camera too....I know I will......
- By Setters4me [gb] Date 17.02.09 19:11 UTC
Last year the outdoor rings were horrendous at this show. Small, sloped and covered in yuky, dirty silt (not good combination with a white dog) so not really looking forward to it that much!!
- By Boxacrazy [in] Date 17.02.09 20:22 UTC
Well at least with the weather report it looks like we will get to be outside unlike
Henley DCS in January when the rings were covered in huge puddles and everyone was moved indoors.

Sadly one of mine will be missing from competing in the AV veteran class due to unexpected injury, althou
with a vet letter I get to have a credit for next years show with the entries that I lose.
I don't think many CS offer you this option.

This show is always well run and only 15-20 mins from home :)
- By AiredaleKate [gb] Date 17.02.09 22:29 UTC
Thanks Maddog & Rachelsetters.

Wow, that's a great entry for Airedales.  At the rare open show that has an Airedale class, there's normally been 2 or 3 max at the shows we've attended!  Maybe people are getting a last show in before Crufts.

All being well here I'll be stewarding in ring 3.
- By rachelsetters Date 18.02.09 10:56 UTC
Thanks - if my head had been screwed on I would have come and found you but last minute trying to get a dog for my Emily so it was a mad dash - they did call it but guess the speakers weren't loud by you?
- By polarboralis [gb] Date 18.02.09 13:04 UTC
Would anyone be able to tell me what the entry is for Junior Handling 6-11 - its my daughters first JH class and just wanted to be able to prepare her if its a massive entry!!

Also thanks for the terrier classes earlier - great help.

J/H says 32 but doesn't say the split between 6-11/12-16 so potentially big classes (and this might include Adult handling too - seems very high for just j/h).  Just tell her to go and have fun in her class :)  Alot of the experienced 12-16 are getting in plenty of practice before Crufts I think as at Horley there was at least 13 in the 12-16 I think.

Becki

My dd has only just turned 6.  I'm just telling her to enjoy it.  Was going to take her to ringcraft tonight for the first time (half term) but it's been cancelled :-(  she's a funny girl, she doesn't complain about things that would have really disappointed me.  I missed her class last Sunday & felt terrible for her, she pouted briefly & then changed the subject :-D
- By ottoman Date 18.02.09 19:47 UTC
Whilst my oldest has been showing for about 9 months now this will also be my youngest's first show with a borrowed border terrier. I am telling her the exact same thing, go and enjoy yourself, placings are not important. Looks like there will be a few mums and dads biting their nails outside the ring on saturday. BTW, although I only live 20 miles from reading, I am actually travelling down from Derby that morning as I am taking OH to see Russell Brand in Nottingham Friday night!! Mad or what!!! lol
- By Boxacrazy [in] Date 18.02.09 20:49 UTC
Well Good Luck to all especially the JH's :)

I shall be hopefully showing the Boxers
after the big Goldie entry :)
- By polarboralis [gb] Date 18.02.09 20:57 UTC
Oh I am so glad there are some other little ones and first timers. My dd is only just 6 and has been desperate to show "her" dog!! She is so small she can't actually lift the dog on to the table!!  I just hope that the JH doesnt clash with our classes - mind you only 5 entries so should get it over and done with quickly.
Hopefully meet some of you at the ringside then - cameras ready and bitten fingernails!! lol
- By Polly [gb] Date 19.02.09 00:12 UTC
As I'll probably still be in ring three you'll just have to wave at me as you pass! lol
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 20.02.09 17:50 UTC
I'll be stewarding ring 1 so come and wave at me too! :-)
- By MADDOG [gb] Date 20.02.09 20:15 UTC
Hope to see you again Ottoman!  Always something with my dd.  Last time we missed the class, the time before she hadn't slept all night.  Guess what!  She's just come down when she should be asleep, with a gap in her mouth (first tooth gone!) & blood pouring out.  She's now waiting up for the tooth fairy, grrrrr!!  Oh well, Bri's a star & will play her up something chronic regardless hee hee!  Always rely on a Spanish Water dog to show you up.  Bless her, dd at home is a really good handler, wish the same could be said for the ring as she gets so dispondent, but she's only 6 so I keep telling her to enjoy it.  She loves Bri so that helps & Bri loves her, just wish she wouldn't decide to be a witchy dog when Emily's on the end of the lead!!!!  :-O

Hope i have the right person.

- By MADDOG [gb] Date 21.02.09 16:30 UTC
thanks allie. Love the fuschia jacket - will suit Emily down to the ground! How did you do? Saw Bobbi got a third - very good - hope to see you later in the year
- By Boxacrazy [in] Date 21.02.09 17:43 UTC
Gutted - had a pants start to the day re the parking (Normally if you get there early you get a decent space...not this year they made you park miles away as apparently
there's at least 50% of show exhibitors that are disabled and all the close spaces were being kept for families and disabled persons - or non dog showers).
Had a banging headache, thought I'd sorted out my shopping..showing the girls that were shown not too bad.

But on my return home I've not got my purchases in my Groomers carrier bag :(
£51 of stuff gone :(

I'm so gutted as I'm having a naff time at mo with vets bills and one of my dogs (the only one I had qualified) knocked out of Crufts due to unexpected op.
:(

Emailed the secretary in the faint hope that someone has handed it in....

Hope everyone else had a nice day.

You never know - dog folks are a very decent bunch and in nearly 20 years I've not had anything go missing that's been left unattended and know of many folks who've had things handed in :)

Sorry it's a rough time for you just now - best wishes for things to pick up soon and your goods returned to you.

Thanks no news yet...sincerely hoping that someone has found it..and will hand it in.
Still have the horrid headache too :(

Gutted at my stupidity or absentmindedness..:(

Still met some nice friendly new people at the show.
So that was a plus point.
- By ClaireyS Date 21.02.09 20:03 UTC
I got there at 9am, if you go left when you pull in you can sneak into that carpark there.

hopefully someone will hand your stuff in, maybe contact the stand themselves, it might have been handed back to them.
- By Boxacrazy [in] Date 21.02.09 20:07 UTC
That's what I did was near the path nearest the road in and then moved later in the day in the afternoon
just before we had our breed judged!
Got talking to some nice people that had SWD, Malinois and S.Valhunds at the beginning of the day.
I got there for 7.30am and finally got in the ring after 1pm...we were after all the Goldies,

I hadn't thought of contacting the stand (groomers)
Thanks for that I'll send them an email!

Kindest Regards
Kirstine

I was there until quite late this afternoon and the committee had cleared up everything very quickly and efficiently so fingers crossed your things will turn up - it is so annoying when you lose things like that - its normally my dd who has swung the carrier bag around like a helicopter and not realised things have fallen out.

My dd did her first JH class today - and did really well, managed to control the dog - always a bonus. I also met some really friendly people - especially around the JH ring - several commented on how sweet dd looked in her little pink suit - so if any of you are on here - thanks for the compliments. She had to help me out before JH in our breed class - we got BoB and RBoB - so happy there - not a good turnout in numbers though so I feel as if I have cheated a bit!!

Was she the tiny girl with the Scottie? We were watching from ring 2 where I'd been moved to, she looked very good! :-)
- By polarboralis [gb] Date 21.02.09 21:10 UTC
Yes!!! Tiny is the right word for her!
I was a proud mum today!!

I expect I saw you then.  I was parked there - green audi, two irish setters - rather pregnant owner !!.  I didnt show in the end because Alf is a bit lame, our breed were all done and dusted by 11.30.
- By Boxacrazy [in] Date 21.02.09 21:29 UTC
I don't recall a green Audi but then
..........the day I'm having today..
Just manage to rip my earing out of my ear ouch :(
- By dorastar [gb] Date 21.02.09 21:30 UTC
Does anyone know who won Best in Show and Best Puppy?
- By MickB [gb] Date 21.02.09 23:24 UTC
I think the Ridgeback got BIS with the Bracco Italiano RBIS and the American Cocker BPIS with the Toy Poodle RBIS.
Our 10 month old Sibe got 3rd in the adult Working Group and 1st in the Puppy Working Group, so we had a good day.

i think i saw your dd with her dog and i must say she controlled him/her really well.
Coulnt belive how little she was and the pink suit was really cute!!!!

> My dd did her first JH class today - and did really well, managed to control the dog

I saw her in there, she did herself proud. My oldest was 2nd in this class  and my youngest aquitted herself very well for her first show, I was very proud of both of them
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 22.02.09 22:39 UTC
Yes, I was chatting to some people while stewarding and we were commenting how cute she looked and how well she was doing.

And woo hoo for the American cocker puppy! :-D
- By MADDOG [gb] Date 23.02.09 07:35 UTC
Didn't realise it was your other daughter's first show Ottoman!  She did very well.  Becki your little girl did very well too.  One mother asked how old she was but I knew from your post on here who she was!  Needless to say, my dd battled with my Spanish girl who only has eyes for me.  She's improving slowly with her handling but it's so hard at 6 to remember everything & we don't have any JH training near us so she relies on my incredibly limited knowledge of handling (so she hasn't a hope ;-))
