What isn't made clear is that it wasn't just that the docking had recently been made illegal, but that docking by lay persons had been illegal for some years.

As someone who is pro-docking for working dogs I am glad he was prosecuted.  As Brainless has already said, it is illegal for breeders to dock tails, this should only be done by vets. The owner sounds like a puppy farmer who is breeding purely for money and his poor dogs were living in conditions that amounted to cruelty and neglect anyway.

Now this is the sort of thing the BBC should be doing a documentary on .

Talking about the BBC, finally we will have something on puppy farms. Rogue Traders goes undercover buying puppies from puppy farmers on Thursday. Good!

We wont see this programme here in Scotland though, pity, there are quite a few not far from me, one has already been closed down thanks to WAG (Waterside Action Group).

Hi Marguerite

You'll be able to see it if you have Sky.  They have regional programming so you can tune in to another BBC1 region to see it.  That's what I'll be doing.  Absolute disgrace.

How is the use of a cable tie not cruel or sadistic? At the very least it's monstrously ignorant. What I also find hard to believe is the judge's attitude ("he took on too much"!!!!!!). I have a working (docked) dog and would not want to see docking banned outright in any circumstances, but people like this should be banned from keeping dogs forever and sent to prison.
