Does anyone know how to get furniture dents out from a carpet. Stewart has an OCD about changing the furniture about and this time has left dents where they are most noticeable. Help please.

Don't know whether it does work or not, but a much-read tip is to place ice cubes on the dents ....apparently as the ice melts, so the dents disappear!

That was going to be my tip too LOL. Let us know if it works!

My MIL warms and steams the dent (damp teatowel and mid heat iron) then, whilst still warm, puts the vacuum nozzle on the spot to pull the fibres upright.

I never tried it but I can't say I've ever noticed furniture marks on her carpets either so I'm either not very observant, or it works ! :)

When I worked for a Bonded Carpet warehouse we used to steam them out but only try that on wool or silk not on acrilic.

Ta

I'll try both, it's a wool so will do the ice just now and then the steam this afternoon if they are still there. I'll let you know

Cheers dears

If it does require steaming then use a thick wet cloth, like a piece of towel and a hot iron, just place the iron down lightly on the cloth lift it up and pat the steam into the carpet with your hand, don't use an ironing motion or push down too hard.

I put ice cubes on them.  Might take quite a few goes depending on the depth of the dents, but it definitely does make a difference.

I tried the ice and it has made a difference but will have to try the steam tommorow as I can still see them.

When you have finished steaming gently brush the pile in the correct direction with a small hand or cloths brush, when looking at a carpet it looks a different colour if you look along the pile to when you look into it so it is important to make sure that you lay the pile in the correct way when you finish.

Yeah, when I'm doing that with ice I usually do it every day for a week or so.  It's not a quick process.
