This morning I was driving to our woods, we have to go down a very busy main road near a country park. As I was driving I noticed the 3 ponies that are kept on the private road up to the woods galloping in the middle of the main road. I immediately stopped, put my hazzards on and waved my arm up and down for the vehichles behind to stop. As I got out of the car a numpty indicated and pulled out in front of the ponies narrowly missing it. I cannot believ that no-one stopped to assist me and were more intent on getting past the ponies. I managed by this stage to get two into the country park driveway but the 3rd grey was in a blind panic in the middle of the road with cars swerving past him. Thankfully I rang a friend who came armed with 2 headcollars and roaps and 1 lead rope plus a bucket of nuts. We managed to catch them all and walk them back half a mile on the busy road with cars tooting us, going past at great speed and a bus driver f-ing and blinding at us.
In the time that it took me to get them all off the road there must have been at least 30 cars pass us, it is a wonder that there wasn't a human or equine fatality and if I believed in angels my guardian must have been with me this morning.
To add insult to injury when we got them back and put them in the stables as we didn't see where they had got out, we found that some clever person had cut through the electric fence and barbed wire and knocked down the post and rail fence at the back of the field!!! Words with todays society are beyond me at the moment.

It beggars belief that some people have no consideration for man nor beast in their little metal boxes all thats going through their minds is gotta get where i am going , thank goodness there are some people willing to help animals and humans in distress , sign of the modern world  buts sad all the same.

It seems now so surreal to think back to this morning about peoples non reaction to the danger they were putting their lives, the ponies lives and mine at risk just to get somewhere quick. I will now keep a couple of headcollars in my truck, hopefully never to be used again, I have everything but the kitchen sink in there.

Only a few days ago i pulled in to allow a bus to pass as there wasnt enough room for me to get through. I always leave just a bit extra room because i have no faith in bus drivers and would rather leave a bigger gap than get my mirror pulled off. Im sat waiting patiently when a man drives up behind me and proceeds to over take and then struggle like hell to fit in front of me when he realised he couldnt squeeze past the bus either. I was absolutely furious and have to admit a bit of foul language, gesturing and a toot on the horn.
Problem is no one has any patience anymore or any consideration for others, man or animal.

So it would seem!

Hehe, just realised how i contradicted myself. What i was trying to say is that while i sat patiently waiting for the bus this idiot perfomred an illegal manouvre just to get a few feet ahead and ended up in a worst position

Sadly, that is the state of the drivers & roads today.  We often get cows out on our road, which is actually a narrow lane but a B road so 60mph & boy do people feel they have to drive at 60mph 'cos they can!

I walk my kids & two dogs to school along a short stretch of it (no pavements) & the looks I get from drivers for walking is unbelievable.  I feel like stopping them & saying "pedestrians were on the roads before cars, & I have to get my kids to school".  We have a field behind us that would be a cut through, but sadly the farmer won't let us walk on its perimeter :-(  would make our life a whole lot safer, but hey ho we just hope that the flourescent jackets & the hedges are enough to keep us from the idiots.
