Can any of you tell me if waterproof socks make your feet sweat?

The reason I ask is that my 13 year old son had minor surgery on his foot today and he is not allowed to get the dressing wet. We have quite a bit of snow here and being a boy he tends to get sox and shoes soaked. For school he is supposed to wear black shoes as part of the uniform. He is not keen on wellies plus with the dressing they may be too difficult to get on.

Just wondering if waterproof sox under normal school shoes would keep his foot dry? But if they cause his feet to sweat then the dressing will still be damp.

Failing that he may just have to wear my yardmaster boots.

My son has some for work, so I asked him and he says "Yes, a bit, but not too badly". But then he's not an adolescent with sweaty feet ...

I use the porelle drys. They're toasty warm and completely dry. They don't make my feet sweat, but they do make them smell if I wear them all day! My feet are always dry though so would be fine for a dressing. I find the sizes quite tight so would recommend you buy a size larger than he needs as they don't stretch like ordinary socks.
