hi ya guys didnt know you all cared so much.(i do really):-)
its awful theres no sign of puppies coming today pups are kicking alive in there,me thinks ive got numbers for my own football team lol.
well shes been her normal self today temp is back to normal, like white lilly said it would :-D but shes done no more than turn a few circles and a bit of digging all in all nothing to write home about,im actually glad you started a new topic as i didnt want to put anything on and get all hopes up when it was just to say nothing has happened but its been ;locked so ive started this one.

so we will stay on this topic for news of pups if thats alright?????
and im sure there are more people than you think out there tapping their fingers and pacing the floors including the new awaiting owners of the babes due to bless our lives.

seriously guys thanx for everyones support and kind words it means a whole lot to me.xxxxx

Do you call temperature returning to normal, meaning normal at 101.5, or normal for the last week in whelp at 100.5?  I would be taking her to see the Vet if my bitch's temperature was 101.5 when she was due to whelp.
- By lillymum [gb] Date 07.02.09 19:40 UTC

no no just im so tired its normal for whelping.so many people are saying different things.some say the temp will rise again some say it will get to what it is now at 36.4 and shes ready some say temps dont work.
some have said that i should see a plug, but shes been cleaning herself too well so i wouldnt have seen nothing and iam watching for it.
im so tired ive really got myself at a loss end now. she was  mated three times so if shes been caught on her third tie then shes not due til monday!
anything eles i should know.we have been to the vets and hes happy with her.

- By Zajak [gb] Date 07.02.09 21:34 UTC
Oh good luck!  Maybe it will be 8 puppies at 1am tonight!
- By Zajak [gb] Date 07.02.09 21:36 UTC
BTW In my (fairly limited) experience, temp drop has been an indication of birth 12-24 hour later.  Mine is also a large breed.
- By lillymum [gb] Date 07.02.09 21:39 UTC
aww im going to keep checking good luck

- By indapendent1 [us] Date 08.02.09 00:04 UTC
Oh tamara!! Im so sorry that your bitch is doing this to you! It feels like its never going to end, im sure you are going to have them VERY soon, the unstable temp, she has been restless for 4 or 5 days, slight digging, sleeping alot! Its all the same signs, i know you have had a litter, but i thought there was going to be one red flag, but my girl was very calm, and it looked as if she wanted to poo, and she had slimey poo, and a couple hours later, she got up to poo again, and she was all wet, so we had puppies! They are doing fabulous! They don't even peep as long as mommy is near, i cant wait until they open their eyes! Good luck Tamara, you already sound so calm, so im sure u will stay this way as i thought i would be a wreck but i was just ecstatic!
- By Zajak [gb] Date 08.02.09 09:26 UTC

You have my sympthay we have a dog that was due to whelp on Thursday lots of panting, sleeping, staring eyes, but still eating well, which shouldnt really surprise us as her friend when whelping stole sandwiches nearby whilst whelping a puppy...

Nothing yet!!!! but she has been breathing 53 breaths in a minute and my daughters dog was only doing 27 a minute,(although she is not actually panting)   so I asked my vet friend and she said ''Sounds like she is carrying  a heavy load!''
- By Romside [gb] Date 09.02.09 00:43 UTC

Do you think she has finished, or is it wishful thinking on your part ;)

It would be great if you could pick your litter size wouldn't it?

I don't think there would be too many of us wishing for large litters :) maybe three maximum four of the sex we want for ourselves so we could get a good pick would be nice.

Yes i think its wishful thinking lol,i doubt shes finished. lol.it would be nice if she were.small litters are lovely imo.ive got a good pick so far im after female and ive got three so hopefully theres one just what i  like.
im so relived,i called the vet and he let off a sigh of relief.ill never leave my vets hes such a nice chap.i mean he could have just said ok ok thats good see you in the morning but he wanted to know if all was ok how i was doing how mum was doing any weak pups are they feeding ok,ect ect .a sigh of releif from a vet is a damn good vet!!
im getting all house work done now so i can spend some well deserved time with my youngest son,(2 and half)seeing as i feel ive negected him over the last few days.i love him very much and i dont want him to feel pushed aside,so if i get all the nessasary bits done now, then ive got extra time with him AND  my new babies in the morning.
im up all night now so shall be here for the night lol.

> i can spend some well deserved time with my youngest son,(2 and half)

That is if you can get a look in with the babies he will probably fascinated by them, you have your hands full there with a toddler and newborn pups.

My last litter was born when I was seven months pregnant. It was a collie bitch we had rescued, and had been promised faithfully she was most deffinitley not in whelp. I left work to go on maternity leave woke up one morning shortly after with a puppy next to me in bed. Unfortunatley the largest dog pup did get stuck so I had to extract him, I was unable to revive him :( the rest were delivered after him normally.

Thankfullly we were able to find good suitable homes for them all, the last ones left the day before I gave birth, but I most deffinitley would not reccommend cleaning up after 7 bundles of joy at that stage of pregnancy, needless to say they were all house trained PDQ. :) good job they were a bright bunch :)

I know what you mean about holding onto you vet, my current one (German) is fantastic, our old boy (another rescue) had multiple conditions to the end of his life and if he needed to go in and she was not on duty, she would always come in from her house (attached to surgery) to treat him :)

She is the same with the Spins, ours are the only ones she has on her books, or has ever seen, and everytime we get a new member of the gang she has to go and get her hubby to show him (he is also a vet at the same practice)

She is very knowledgeable and I have complete confidence in her :)

Hi,

I am afraid I am going to have to love you and leave you it's 4am here and I  am off to bed. As you have not posted I guess you are busy either with new arrivals or housework :)

I will check back in the morning to see how you are doing, :) and you have the support of a good vet should you need him.

Take Care

Night

Just want to say congrats, all the waiting and hoping, and then to finally have them coming!

Hope you get just what you want out of this litter!!!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 09.02.09 07:15 UTC
As I keep bitches, I always say my ideal litter would be three or four bitches and two males.

soph was taken to vet at 10ish had a calcium injection and an oxytocin injection this morning and gave birth to a girl at 10.45, then nothing for 2 hrs so took her back to vet she was given another oxytocin injection and sent home. Nothing by 3 this afternoon, so took her back and 2nd pup was in an awkward position, so she had to have a c section :-(
Picking her up about 5.30
