once again, staffies (this time along with a Jack Russell) have 'attacked' and killed a baby boy.
As a staffy owner, I really hate this campaign that seems to be going on to tarnish their name and make them out to be like a dangerous dog.
Bottom line is, why did the owner leave a little baby in a room on it's own with two dogs?  I would guess these dogs will be destroyed now, and of course I have infinite sympathies for what is another tragic child death, but can the news stop making out like staffies are dangerous dogs?  It's really getting on my nerves and I hate that the news like to seize on something and not look at the facts.
Opinions?  I can't say I'm biased because I own a boxer and a setter as well, and have never experienced them being 'bad mouthed' in the media...
It seems like the media wants to paint SBTs out as nasty dogs which they are not.  Every dog has the potential to be dangerous if not properly trained and people that train their dogs to fight are irresponsible.  But the majority of owners know how to be responsible and it's really gotten on my nerves the fact that whenever they even talk about 'dangerous dogs', low and behold there's a picture of a staffy being branded as a 'pit bull-type dog'.  GRRRRRRRR!!!

The news reports I have read do not read like a campaign, merely reporting what is so far known about the tragic death of a baby.  We already have a thread running by the way.
