Hi Just to say that I recently changed my 2 pups over to Royal Canin and am really pleased with it especially as they will eat it without any additions.
The litter and Mum were reared on James Wellbeloved and though they did really well on it , they always had to have tripe, tinned food or ND added to it, otherwise they would not eat it. So, am thinking next litter I will use Royal Canin seem to remember they used to do a puppy porridge as well?

Hi my pregant bitch would eat nothing else toward the end of her pregnance and so the pups were weaned on it to.  I did however change her back to Proplan after they had left as the RC seems to be a little too rich for her (won't go into detail about this)

All mine are fed RC with excellent results. Good coats nice poo's etc. My puppies get raw minced beef and tripe and RC and they have all thrived on it. When I had my single pup he was given RC puppy milk till Mums came in and he too thrived on it ...so it gets a "Thumbs Up" from me.

All my dogs eat RC, different varieties depending on age.
My bitches get switched over to RC "Large Breed puppy" after five weeks pregancy. Then they eat that until they whelp, and all through lactation. And the pups are weaned on to it.
My bitches have produced plenty of milk, and the pups have done very well. Great apetites, good poos and generally healthy pups with good bonestructure. I can only say positive things about RC.

ditto Karen, except mine is the mini breed.  Mum starts on it around 5-6 weeks along, and pups take to it really well.  And the poos are great.

All 8 of ours are fed on Royal Canin.  We use the starter on the pregnant bitch and then for the puppies too.  (We grind it down first and then mix with the puppy milk to make a porridge). We used the Royal Canin milk with great success when we had to hand rear a puppy last year, she then went on to the starter and so on.  All of the dogs have super coats and firm stools.  We think Royal Canin is excellent and what's more important the dogs love it too.

after going to a show today a few people with giant breed who have used RC have said to me as their pup reaches about 6 months they seam to go a bit hyber, the last litter we had were weaned onto royal canin and the new owners that have carried on have had good results and i have had good results with maddie who had been on RC since she came to us at 8 weeks but she is very full on and could be described as hyper and im thinking about trying something else to see if it would make a difference. Has anyone else found this with RC?

I use RC for my little ones...they love it, I love it! The only one they don't like is the Breed specific one! I use Junior mini bite(toy breed) I wouldn't use Eukanuba if I was given it for free!

My GSD was never well on RC at the vets every week for the first year of her life. Changed to raw feeding and never looked back. All previous illnesses disappeared including skin problems. I dare say it suits some but not mine.

I personally have a problem with the ingredients of RC.
They charge a lot of money for the product and yet most of the range's main ingredient is what they call "beef greaves", which is a truly cheap and nasty beef by product; "the residue that remains after animal fat has been rendered" to quote an online dictionary. Yum yum.
Most of the range used to be poultry meal-based but it seems to have changed a lot lately, mostly in the puppy and junior ranges worringly.
RC also has far too much maize in it for my liking. We all know maize is a cheap filler, and for between £14 and £16 a bag I would expect better.

i did see the ingredients saw that  maize is the main product,
where some other top band the meat or fish is the main product.

heard lost of good result on they milk product

A couple of litters that Alfie sired were reared on RC all pups really good weight and went to their new homes on it.  The ones I still see are on it.  Alfie was raised on it himself but I switched him to BARF as a pup, won a sack of RC at a show last year but he piled on the weight with it so have him on burns now.

> yet most of the range's main ingredient is what they call "beef greaves",

Which recipe are you referring to?  I have looked at a few in the range and they appear to be generally poultry meat. I doubt fat would be used as a main ingredient but is obviously an essential part of a balanced diet and greaves would be a very tasty addition.  It is what many of us would use to make gravy.  Yum , yum indeed :-)

all of the canin range is chicken based which is a shame because I would love to put my skinny boy on it but he has a chicken intolerance :(

The first ingredient of Royal Canin Mini Junior is definitely dehydrated poultry meat because I looked on the back of the bag the other day!
